LBMA - Lake Bonisteel Music Association Lake Bonisteel Music Association is a state recognized nonprofit 501(c)3 organization Music and friendship aren’t the only things to be enjoyed at the BCGF.

Since 2010, our oldest event the BlueChiliGrass Festival has fostered the perpetuation of traditional American music by regional performers and to celebrate the All-American flavor of chili and homespun arts and crafts in a family-oriented setting. The demand for the BCGF continued to grow and in 2015 it became a two-day music festival and would feature out of town Michigan bands. The festival features local vendors, free crafts, and activities for the kids and of course, a one day Chili-Cook Off featuring local food establishments. In 2015, we started the Gary Sargent Memorial Music Scholarship Fund to provide musical instruments and private music lessons to children who may have otherwise not had the opportunity to play an instrument. In 2016 this fund got a large donation of used instruments from Guitar Center which spurred the idea for a whole new event, the Orphan Instrument Auction (OIA). LBMA would
take underappreciated and oftentimes broken instruments to give them new life. We would get these instruments back to playing condition and use our connections to some of the area's best musicians to perform live on them, directly before auctioning them to the public. We now
use these funds in more ways to help foster the love of music. We were days away from hosting the 5th annual OIA in 2020 when COVID-19 upended everyone’s plans, eventually causing us to have to cancel what would have been the 11th annual BCGF as well. In early 2021 as the world started to
get back on track, LBMA knew we needed to do something for the community to lift everyone’s spirits, resulting in the award-winning Lake Bonisteel Music Association Festival (LBMA Fest) at Pine Grove Park in downtown Port Huron. LBMA Fest was free for the public to attend with some of the area’s best music from artists. June 25th – 2nd Annual LBMA Fest

It's been a few weeks since the LakeBonisteelMusic Association hosted our 15th annual BlueChiliGrass Festival. Hopefully you were able to enjoy the beautiful weather we had at Goodells County Park with us this year. We got to hear some fantastic music by some of the best musicians around, gave out awards to the best chili in the blue water area, gave away over $1,000 worth of instruments to kids who attended the festival and awarded our scholarships worth over $2,500 !!

Rix Ranch came in 3rd place with a cash prize of $75, Raven Cafe took second and received $100, and newcomers Tailgators Sports Bar scored $200. Additionally all three received a laser cut wooden chili pepper award from Dark Horse Studios. Tailgators will have their name permanently added to our trophy that they will get to display until next year's cook off.

Port Huron Highschool was awarded one of our scholarships to help Mr Raney in his new guitar class. We were able to provide over $1,000 worth of guitar tuners, guitar strings and gig bags to help his students get started on the right path.

This year three lucky kids received our Richie Cox student scholarship. Each student will have access to $500 to advance their passion for music.
Atlas Turner plans to use their funds to pay for bass guitar lessons, Reese Morrison plans to pay for violin lessons, and Sage Jenkins will receive a new trumpet along with some accessories.

The last scholarship is going to be used for a unique partnership we are still working on with Trash the Clown. LBMA and Trash will be hosting group music lessons at The Dumpster (3565 24th street Port Huron, MI "pure michigan" 48060 ) in the near future. These group lessons will be Free for anyone to join with donations greatly appreciated.

All scholarships made possible by way of LBMA's Gary Sargent memorial music fund.

Being a small non-profit, every dollar we get matters and gets reinvested into next year's events.

Look in the comments for links to our merch.

and take a few minutes to fill out our survey to make next year's events even
better !!

Next Saturday The Dumpster will be hosting a benefit show to raise funds for funeral expenses for one of our own, who we recently lost.

If you want to come out and show your support, I know the family would greatly appreciate it. It will be $20 at the door, and all proceeds will go to the family ❤️
