Today, members of the Student Identity & Engagement team, Dr. Timeka Gordon and Roxana Aguirre, proudly participated in the Opal Lee Walk for Freedom in celebration of Juneteenth.

As we walked alongside community members from across Fort Worth, we honored the legacy of those who fought for freedom, justice, and equality while celebrating the joy, resilience, and strength of the Black community.

We are grateful for opportunities to learn from our history, engage with our community, and continue the work of building a more just and inclusive future.

Happy Juneteenth from Student Identity & Engagement.

Today, we remember Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.—a theologian, organizer, dreamer, and truth-teller who refused to settle for quiet despair when the world demanded liberated witness. His legacy is not frozen in history; it is alive in every classroom, every march, every vote, every sermon, every bold act of love, and every young person who believes their voice matters.
May we honor him not only with quotes, but with action. Not only with memories, but with movement. Not only with dreams, but with a disciplined commitment to justice, dignity, and the beloved community.
The work continues. The dream evolves. And we remain steadfast.

This morning, Dr. Gordon had the incredible honor of being a Black History Month Mystery Reader at Leadership Academy at Como Elementary School. Despite the bitter 11-degree start to the day, the bright and engaged students brought warmth, hope, and joy into the air. "I came to share a story with them, but I left deeply inspired by them."
