Dixie National East Ride The Dixie National Wagon Train is a Mississippi tradition. Each February wagons roll into Jackson. Join us and take a trip your family will never forget.

We will travel across the state on horseback and in wagons, making stops along the way for food, fun, and fellowship. Our Wagon Train makes overnight stops in Newton, Gibbstown, Forest, Pelahatchie, Brandon, and ends at the Coliseum in Jackson, MS. There is never a shortage of friends and family to help you along the way.

Last Monday - Friends and Family said good bye to a special person, James Lewis. For those who couldn’t attend I share the following:

Our family, TravisnBelinda Gray, Phyllis Pitts , Jackie Lewis, Doyle and Leslie Perkins, want to thank you all for the many calls, text, emails, cards, meals, flowers, prayers and support during the loss of my Dad , James Lewis.

We tried to make the service about him. It is very difficult to condense 88+ years into a few paragraphs. As we stood in line greeting , family , his class mates, those he built houses with, those who road on many trail rides with him, we realized he didn’t just belong to us. His charismatic personality put him in the lives of many along the way and he was big enough to share.

God has been faithful to us and allowed his suffering to be minimal and allowed us to be there in his final days and hours. Thank you doesn’t seem adequate but we pray that God will bless you many times over for all the acts of kindness you have shown.

Tonight is another one of those posts that I never wanted to have to write. Mr. James Lewis passed away earlier this afternoon. He had been a member of the Dixie National East Ride for many years.

On Monday, August 24th, family and friends will join together for the visitation at 11 am and the funeral service to follow at 12 noon at Pine Forest Baptist Church in Collinsville. Located at 10031 West Lauderdale Road which is off Highway 19 out from Meridian. Mr. James will make that last wagon train to the cemetery following his funeral service.

Please keep Ms. Jackie and the family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

2026
This year’s ride is over and as they say it’s in the history book. Family and friends spent the week together. Memories have been made. Now it’s time to go home- unpack everything. Wash clothes and shake off the trail dust. Cowboy life on the trail ends and real life - work starts again. It take Teamwork to get a job done. Thanks to everyone for this wonderful year. 🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴🐴
