It’s been a tough day for the girls. Temperatures below freezing for about 48 hours with another 24-36 hours to go. They barely left the coop and definitely don’t like the snow. I’ve had to go out twice to break the ice off of their water. Still managed to get 7 eggs today though.

Down to just 17 in the flock. Chicken hawks are bold this year, flying right into the coop. Trouble with some stray dogs...

Down to just 17 in the flock. Chicken hawks are bold this year, flying right into the coop. Trouble with some stray dogs, and one loss due to old age I think. Hopefully the spring will bring a few new chicks. Pandemic life continues and it was a pretty quiet Thanksgiving. Looking forward to 2021 and a little Christmas cheer. Still can’t beat that sunset though.

It has been a very long and particularly dry summer. We finally got a brief cool snap and if I leave the back door open too long all kinds of things come inside, LOL. It was short-lived but the rain was good and it made the girls happy.

The girls have gotten a lot of attention due to pandemic isolation 😂 Baby chicks just in time for Easter. I’m sure there would have been more if not for the skunk, but 5 healthy little chicks and they’re already out with mama scratching around. Now comes the chicken hawk watch. I always loose some. The Catalpa tree snowed all over with the little front that blew through and the garden is coming along. Spring has sprung🌻

She has to stay up on the porch because she was injured by the nasty skunk. Finally able to trap the little stinker, so the girls are happy now and sitting on eggs. Will hopefully have chicks by mid April. Always a fun time of year.
