A Sweet Update!

Last week, I shared that Ashleigh Bakes Daily wanted to do something simple: show up for the people who spend their days showing up for everyone else.

And YOU responded.

Ms. Rachel (Yep our favorite children's advocate) said yes. So did many of you, our customers and friends, and one local business, Johnson Lexus. You all stepped in to help us turn cookies into something bigger than dessert.

Because of your support, this week we are delivering fresh cookies and thank-you notes to four more local schools and four healthcare facilities.

That means teachers, school staff, nurses, front-desk teams, caregivers, and late-night workers will receive a small reminder that their work is seen.

This is only the beginning.

We do not want this to be one appreciation post or one week of treats. We want to keep showing up all year for the people who care for Durham’s children, families, patients, and communities, one fresh delivery at a time.

Four cookies can say, “We see you.”

This quarter, Ashleigh Bakes Daily has a sweet goal: to deliver 5,000 cookies to Durham teachers, school staff, child-care workers, and hospital teams who care for children and families every day.

We’re excited to share that we have already secured 50 cookies toward our 5,000 cookie goal, which means 50 people will receive a small reminder that they are seen, appreciated, and cared for.

Each cookie represents one person in our community: a teacher, school staff member, child-care worker, or hospital team member who shows up every day to care for children and families.

A cookie may be small, but its message is meaningful:

We see you. We appreciate you. Thank you for all you do.

We’ll share another progress update later this week. Until then, every order placed with Ashleigh Bakes Daily this quarter helps us reach more people with a little care, while supporting a Black woman owned bakery proudly rooted in Durham.

Educators at every level are heading back into long days, full classrooms, and everything that comes with a new school year.

We are making it easy to show up for them in the sweetest way ever.

We’re inviting you to sponsor a dozen (or a few) for a local school’s teacher break room.

Here’s how it works:

* Order your educator cookie order at the discounted price of $50 per dozen.
* For Local Durham, NC Schools, leave the school in the comments and select pickup.
* For all other school systems shipping, select shipping.
* We’ll deliver or ship your cookies straight to their break room

It’s a simple way to say “we see you” to an entire team of educators at once.

I started out baking cookies in borrowed kitchens, packing orders wherever I could find space, and hoping people would take a chance on me. I had no idea if I'd make it, but I did.

Now I get to unlock the doors to my own shop in downtown Durham anytime I want.

I still have a lot to learn because learning never stops, and I am still figuring things out every day. BUT WOW.
I am very proud of how far this little cookie dream has come.

Life Dump.
ADHD version.

The work is me.
I am the work.

Entrepreneurship shows you just how deep the work really is.

The pistachio crème inside these little cake numbers that I made required a gentle touch.
They are delicious.

If you can’t parallel park like this, please don’t bother me.

Making cinnamon rolls has been the surprise meditation of the week.
The love is why they are tasty and the icing.

Glad I don’t look like what I been through to get here because the story isn’t pretty.

Grateful for legal cannabis, meds, therapy and my growing village of chosen family.

Thankful that all my cookie friends love the shop as much as I do. It’s built for you to come stay a while.
