San Juan Night is celebrated on June 23rd in honor of Saint John the Baptist. The tradition dates back centuries and combines religious and cultural customs brought to Puerto Rico by the Spanish.

In Puerto Rico, people gather at the beach before midnight and step backward into the ocean 3, 7, or 12 times, a tradition believed to bring good luck, blessings, and a fresh start for the year ahead.
