Was the catering successful? Yes.
I was very ecstatic that my menu was well received when pitched. It wasn't super crazy, but sometimes people push very hard for a simple menu.
Kyle had parent teacher conferences so I was going to be mostly alone. But I did feel I could accomplish this as long as I had a few hands and some help with prep.
But with catering everything is a hurry up and wait. It is a balance and dance with time. You can't be too early or the food is cold or sitting for hours. And you can't be too late or people get hungry.
And then comes the part where you have gotten the food ready, you have your pans set up, you are just about ready to take the wrap off and present the dishes... and before you make it the two steps to remove lids... the line has formed and people are filling plates.
And all the hard work, becomes just a memory if you didn't make it 30 seconds earlier to snap the pics... the opportunity is gone. Your pans of beautifully garnished foods are demolished.
No pics of my finished, garnished foods.[I am here to make food not have a photo sesh] No pics of my completed desserts. Only pics I snapped in my moments alone prepping.
But.
While shopping for ingredients the cashier said "you have really interesting items!" ... I have never felt so "seen" π
People got dessert... people brought people back up and told them which to get. People saw one person with a to-go box... and then I kept getting asked for them because they were full but didn't want to leave without dessert.
And that... is all the thanks I need.
I am so grateful for the opportunities. I love being able to do what I love.
Thanks for all the support. I truly love what I do π₯°
[Also, I totally used store bought crust for those pies because 1. Where the f are my pie plates?! And 2. I made five different desserts and baked edible leaf garnishes, two meat proteins, a vegan protein, 28 lbs of potatoes, cut up 7 different veggies for my medley, made gravy. Soooo I picked my battles. π]
