I have stumbled upon one of the kindest men I have ever met. His name is István "Steve" Javorek. He was the Olympic weightlifting coach in Romania back in the 1970s and early 1980's. He defected to the United States in 1982. I have stumbled upon one of the kindest men I have ever met. His name is István "Steve" Javorek. He was the Olympic weightlifting coach in Romania back in the 1970s and early 1980's. He defected to the United States in 1982. His daughter Henriette Javorek wrote a book about what her experience was like when she was a child. I highly recommend the book. It is an easy read and fascinating. I had a hard time putting it down.

In 1982, while at an international competition in West Germany, national Olympic weightlifting coach, István Javorek defected, leaving behind his wife and only daughter in a country still under the control of the Ceausescu dictatorship. Blue Smoke BBQ will be feeding people at the Range 15 after party at Bulldog Pipe & Cigar Shop + Smoke Lounge on June 15th. We will be feeding people with Pulled Pork and Brisket Sandwiches and a side of Beans. Mad Bomber Brewing will be there as well. Come join in the fun! The after party starts at 8 pm. There will be limited Brisket so come early.

We will be closed today through monday. We are taking a family vacation. My oldest son is currently serving as a United States Marine and is unable to come home for Christmas. So we are going to visit him.

Today we say thank you to all that have served and all that are currently serving. We remember the ones that lost their lives for us.. And those we were able to welcome home, who grew old in this land of the free because they were brave. So in honor of all our active service men/women and retired vets we welcome you to come down here and get a free sandwich on us! We are proud of all that you have done and want to thank you for your service!
