I,ve caught my share of fish but this one almost beat me. Skipper knew I,d caught a 1000 Salmon by then but this was different. He kept yellin “ that ain,t no Chinook boy he,s gonna beat you ,STOP using your arms !” Every time the fish charged the boat I,d instinctively pull hard on the rod and reel as fast as i could . Skipper was right not even an hour into it and i told him the reel was seized up , he,d give it half a turn and yell “ Its YOU seized up kid”
I had to put my whole shoulder into it,just to crank one revolution .
Ive caught em near twice as big since then, but this one was the learning experience.😂

Hmmm i caught 12 more in the last 10 years , but still haven’t caught the Grander ( over 1000)
