One of the most important medical breakthroughs in history was handed over for just $1 ❤️

In the early 1920s, Frederick Banting, Charles Best, James Collip and John Macleod formed the University of Toronto team that pioneered insulin as an effective treatment for diabetes.

Before their breakthrough, type 1 diabetes was effectively a death sentence, with patients often placed on extreme starvation diets simply to prolong their lives.

Banting, Best and Collip were named on the insulin patent, but instead of trying to become rich from it, each assigned their rights to the university for the symbolic sum of $1. The aim was to protect the discovery from a private monopoly and help make carefully produced insulin widely available.

“Insulin does not belong to me,” Banting famously said. “It belongs to the world.”

More than a century later, countless people are alive because their team placed human life above personal profit 🥹👏

A'ja Wilson's grandmother grew up near the University of South Carolina. Back then, segregation kept her off the campus. She wasn't even allowed to walk across it. She had to walk around. Generations later, her granddaughter walked right in. A'ja attended the school, led the Gamecocks to a national championship in women's basketball and became one of the greatest players in the sport. Today, a bronze statue of A'ja stands on that same campus, and her jersey has been retired there forever. What a full circle moment! The places that once shut families out can become the places that honor their children.

For decades, mainstream medicine assumed that once menopause arrived, a woman's ovaries effectively shut down and remained completely inactive for the rest of her life. Modern scientific discoveries have totally overturned that outdated view. Instead of simply turning off when egg production stops and hormone levels drop, these organs undergo a remarkable cellular transition. Rather than becoming useless remnants, they rewrite their biological purpose and step into a completely new functional role. It turns out that after menopause, ovaries transform into vital defensive hubs packed with active immune components. Researchers found that they switch on genes responsible for white blood cell response, drawing in key protective units like T-cells and macrophages. Freed from their monthly reproductive duties, they begin sending chemical signals throughout the circulatory system to help direct immune activity. This groundbreaking finding demonstrates that the ovaries play a crucial, lifelong role in protecting systemic health and influencing how the body ages well past fertility. Check the comments below for simple ways to support your body and o***y health after menopause.
