Any of you ever get hit with a fleeting memory of foods from your childhood?
Yesterday the scalloped tomatoes my mom would make back in the 70s and 80s came crashing forward from the recesses while making a quick run to the Teeter. So … I made it, created the whole meal around this one dish, and I’m so glad I did.
If y’all grew up having scalloped tomatoes, or if you’ve never heard of it, I advise you to make this. Just a homey Tuesday night dinner for the natives with seasoned seared and roasted pork tenderloin, baked mac and cheese, and spinach.

Had an ‘event’ tonight hosting one of my son’s close group of friends for a dinner. Everyone outside on the deck, kicked back, fun Sunday. It was good, and no one went home hungry or without a to-go container 😁

Anyone in the area missing a husky, or have a clue who’s dog this may be?
As for the person who left it at CWR, really?!?! DON’T do this!

🚨 **PLEASE DO NOT DUMP ANIMALS AT OUR RESCUE** 🚨

This morning, someone abandoned a dog at our rescue.

We understand that people sometimes find an animal they don't know what to do with, and we understand wanting to get an animal somewhere safe. **But leaving an animal at our property is not a safe or appropriate solution—and it can put the animals already in our care at risk.**

We are primarily a **wildlife and bird rescue**, and we are **not legally permitted to have dogs around the wildlife in our care.** Our facility is specifically set up to protect vulnerable wild animals from domestic animals, disease, predation, and unnecessary stress.

Abandoning an animal at a rescue is also **illegal**. Please do not leave an animal outside our gates, on our property, or anywhere around the rescue expecting us to take responsibility for it.

That said, **this dog is here now, and our immediate concern is making sure he is safe.** ❤️

We believe he may have escaped from a nearby neighborhood, and we are hoping someone recognizes him.

📢 **PLEASE SHARE THIS POST!**

If you recognize this dog or know who he belongs to, please contact us. We would love to get him safely reunited with his family.

If anyone is **legally able and willing to temporarily hold this dog while we work to locate his owner**, that would also be tremendously appreciated. Ideally, we would like to keep him away from the wildlife areas and get him somewhere safe while we try to identify his owner.

Please also understand why we are asking for your help. **We cannot simply bring an unfamiliar dog into our wildlife facility.** Doing so could jeopardize the health and safety of the animals we are responsible for protecting.

We are asking our community to help us do the right thing for **this dog AND the wildlife in our care.**

And if you find an animal in need, **please contact an appropriate animal shelter, animal control agency, or rescue BEFORE bringing or leaving the animal somewhere.** A rescue facility can only safely accept animals it is equipped and legally permitted to care for.

Brunchy sort of drop-off to some active padel players. Because I forgot to get a shot of the fruit platter, you’re seeing a similar one from a previous event 🤣
All the rest of the goodies included chicken salad bites, apple sausage, egg, and cheese egg rolls (drizzled with maple syrup), and vegetable frittata squares. Omgosh!Those egg rolls taste like a McGriddle!😋

August’s slower pace has left me with a Saturday afternoon to bake something new (new to me, at least). Any of y’all who’ve known me for any amount of time know that I’m not exactly a baker. Too rigid with too many rules for my usual laid back, yet impatient, ‘wing it and make it happen’ mindset. (Hence, why I always guide y’all elsewhere when wanting a special cake🤣)
A quick bread, though? Oh, yeah … checks all the boxes for me. I have all the basics stocked, measuring is minimal, and doesn’t necessarily have to be exact. Oh! And, as the category suggests, it’s quick🤣
I just stumbled upon my new favorite creation. Cantaloupe bread! Sounds weird, but, WOW! With a praline glaze, as well?!?! Omgosh! So good!
Having only one loaf pan at my disposal at home, I baked half as a loaf, the other half as muffins.
Give this a try and thank me later 🥰 YES! This will be on rotation when anyone requests muffins of any sort on their menus. (Full disclosure - I tweaked things a tad, using butter instead of oil, and replacing half the white sugar with half brown)

***CHICKEN SALAD ***

My ‘almost famous’🤷‍♀️ hand shredded, seasoned and flavorful poached chicken, combined with Duke’s (is there any other?😁), a little Dijon, minced celery, sweet onion, fresh parsley, dried cranberries, toasted pecans, fresh squeezed lemon for brightness, relish for sweetness, and hints of curry and smoked paprika for a warm balance.
