Our daughters Greta and Lena are taking part in Belle of the Ball, a pageant with purpose here in Cape Coral on March 7, 2027. Instead of just walking the stage, every contestant raises money for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, where kids fighting cancer get world-class care.

Let's talk about bread for a moment.

The average American supermarket loaf contains preservatives, added sugars, dough conditioners and ingredients you can't pronounce. Ours has five: rye flour, wheat flour, water, salt and yeast. That's it.

Stone-oven baked, naturally vegan, lactose-free, and low in fat and sugar — while being rich in complex carbohydrates and protein. Real bread. The way it's supposed to be.

Since our rebrand to Mel's Sunrise Cafe & Bakery, some of our regulars may not realize we still carry our full selection of artisan breads. We do — and we'd love to remind you why you loved them.

Our Avocado Toast starts with one whole fresh avocado — mashed to order, never pre-made. We add diced fresh tomato, a squeeze of lemon, and a pinch of our house Mel's Sunrise Seasoning. Served on toasted sourdough multigrain, topped with a sunny side up egg fried fresh, right then and there.

That's it. No fuss. Just real, clean ingredients done right.

24 layers. Real butter. The kind of pastry that takes actual skill and actual time — because there are no shortcuts to doing it right.

Inside: a handmade mascarpone cream, lightly sweetened, perfectly balanced with vanilla — not too much sugar, not too heavy. Filled generously with fresh strawberries. Topped with dark chocolate and a cloud of powdered sugar.
