Welcome to Sombra Coffee Lounge.
We built this while working full-time jobs, racing here every day at 5pm to continue building, painting, and (unexpectedly) fixing things. We gave up weekends to test our scratch-made syrups, work some more, and stay up during nights when we really should have been working on our sleep. But it all led here, and the risk we took to get Sombra to opening is what makes us so excited to open our doors to you.
Sombra means shade, and that's really what we wanted to build; not just a coffee shop, but a place to rest and take shade. A place that feels like home the second you walk in. The colors, the textures, the whole feel of this space came from our travels, from the countries we're from, from pieces of the homes we each respectively grew up in. We wanted to bring back something warmer than what's out there, the feeling of having coffee at someone's house, the early 2000s kind of nostalgia we always think about, but built for us now.
We wanted our place to have the human touch we see less of lately in the age of AI and minimalism. Most everything in here has been cut, sawed, and painted not only by us but by our amazing friends, family, contractors, and construction workers who have each touched a part of Sombra and touched our hearts deeply. We would not have been able to get here without them
