DEK HOCKEY & MORE! Hockey Is Hockey is a festive event series serving as a celebration of the game we love and a tribute to our grassroots, featuring Ice, Inline, Ball Hockey & more! Hosted by Hockey Is Hockey and the host facility, the event features Youth through Professionals and welcomes hockey players and fans of all ages and skill levels. Each event varies and can include:

The Main Event Games are intended to feature NHLers & Alumni, local Celebrities, and various hockey players and coaches of the following levels:
NHL, AHL & Professional Leagues, NCAA, ACHA, Junior Hockey, Professional Inline, NCRHA (Collegiate Inline), Team USA Inline, Travel Inline and more. DRAFT NIGHT:
The rosters for the Main Event games are selected during the event’s opening night: The Hockey Is Hockey DRAFT NIGHT. Each team’s coaching staff is represented by Professional Players & Alumni, local celebrities, sponsor company representatives and local hockey coaches. Additionally, Youth Player Drafts are featured, depending on what programs are offered at a specific event. Draft Night is open to the public and all event youth players, families and friends are encouraged to attend. The evening also includes Live Entertainment, Autograph Sessions, and Media Coverage. Hockey Is Hockey welcomes all players, fans and those that are new to our great game. Come join us at one of our upcoming festive events, celebrating the game we all love.

As we continue with Main Event Games Player Announcements, let’s recognize a few players who have been part of this hockey family for multiple years.

We’re excited to welcome back Matt O’Shaughnessy, Joey DiMartino, and Josh Weger, who will once again suit up in both the Hockey Is Hockey Main Event Outdoor Roller Game and the Main Event Ice Game!

The three of them have been longtime supporters of Hockey Is Hockey, taking part in multiple events throughout the years and continuing to give back to the game whenever they can.

Their connection to HIH runs even deeper. Hockey Is Hockey Director Jim Tamburino had the privilege of coaching all three of them during their time with the Farmingdale State College Roller and Ice Hockey programs, where they captured multiple NCRHA Division I National Championships together. Years later, it’s special to see everyone reunite each summer - not just as former teammates and coach, but as part of the hockey family that continues to grow.

That’s what Hockey Is Hockey is all about.

Following college, O’Shaughnessy played professional ice hockey in Europe, and currently competes in the pro roller tournament circuit, and coaches ice & roller hockey. DiMartino played professional roller hockey overseas for multiple seasons, is a multi-World Champion with Team USA Inline Hockey, and also competes in the pro tournament circuit. Weger also played roller overseas for a few seasons and currently plays in competitive tournaments from time to time.

We appreciate Matt, Joey and Josh’s continued support and looking forward to sharing the rink with them once again.

A true Islanders legend is joining Hockey Is Hockey once again.

We’re honored to welcome Ed Westfall back to HIH for the 3rd consecutive year. On Wednesday, August 12, he will attend the 2026 HIH Draft Night Party as a Special Guest. In 2024, Westfall attended Draft Night and he attended last year’s Main Event Ice Game.

A 2-time Stanley Cup Champion and the first-ever Captain of the New York Islanders, Westfall helped lay the foundation for one of hockey’s greatest dynasties. His impact on the game extends far beyond the scoresheet, and we’re incredibly grateful that he continues to support Hockey Is Hockey, the Peconic Hockey Foundation, and Peconic Ice Rinks - Ed Westfall Arena.

Take the opportunity to meet one of the true gentlemen of the game, hear some unforgettable stories, and celebrate hockey alongside one of its all-time great leaders.

Logan Renkowski returns to Hockey Is Hockey for the 2026 Main Event Ice Game! After making his HIH debut in 2024, Logan returns to the ice for another weekend celebrating the game.

Renkowski is coming off an outstanding season with the Sioux Falls Stampede (USHL), where he recorded an impressive 63 points in 60 games. This fall, he’ll begin the next chapter of his hockey journey as he starts his NCAA Division I career with the University of Vermont.

We’re looking forward to having Logan back as part of the HIH family and look forward to watching him take the next step in what promises to be a bright future.

After making his HIH debut in 2024, Tanner Adams is back for Hockey Is Hockey as he returns for the HIH Main Event Ice Game!

Entering his senior season at Providence College, Tanner has continued to establish himself as one of college hockey’s top players. Last month, he earned an invitation to the New York Islanders Development Camp, another milestone in what has already been an impressive hockey journey.

We’re proud to have Tanner return to HIH and grateful that he continues to support what this event is all about: bringing together players from every level to celebrate the game we all love.

Looking forward to welcoming Tanner back to Peconic Ice Rinks and see him compete in this year’s Main Event Ice Game!
