Funny story time: We hit the road EARLY this morning on our way to Dahlonega to set up for a wedding for an absolutely amazing couple. 💕🥤
Then it happened....
So, I’m driving along, minding my own business, when I spot the CUTEST little baby turtle right in the middle of the road. 🐢
My heart immediately starts racing as a semi comes barreling by and barely misses the poor little thing. And in true Brandi fashion, I knew I couldn’t just keep driving. Nope. I HAD to turn around and save this baby before the next vehicle changed his luck forever. 😂
So I hit the brakes, turn around, go back, stop traffic, hop out, and proceed to walk straight into the middle of the road to rescue this beautiful little creature.
I bend down...
I reach for it...
And that’s when I realized…
I may have missed my annual eye exam. 👀😂
IT WASN’T A TURTLE.
It was a little stick with a bundle of leaves attached to it. 🤦♀️🤣
At this point, I’m already fully committed. People are watching. Traffic is stopped. There is no graceful way out of this situation.
So naturally, I gently scooped up my “baby turtle,” carried him safely to the side of the road, and walked back to the car trying to maintain what little dignity I had left. 😂
As soon as I got back in the car, I LOST IT. I laughed so hard I had tears running down my face.
Hopefully the people sitting in those cars were just as blind as I am and genuinely thought there was a turtle there too… OR at least got a much-needed laugh to start their morning. 😂
But honestly, once I stopped laughing, it got me thinking…
Sometimes things aren’t exactly what they appear to be. Sometimes we misunderstand a situation, make a fool of ourselves, or end up looking absolutely ridiculous. 😂
But that doesn’t mean we should let it change who we are as a person.
I could have driven right past that “turtle” and never thought twice. But helping something that I thought needed me is simply who I am.
And I think there’s something to be said for that.
Be true to yourself, and your beliefs even when circumstances make you look a little crazy. Lol ❤️
So here’s your reminder from the blind woman who tried to rescue a stick this morning:
Keep your heart soft. Keep doing what is right. Laugh at yourself when you need to. And never be afraid to be exactly who God made you to be.
Have a GREAT day, beautiful people. 🥰
And remember…
YOU ARE LOVED. ❤️
