Judging by the way my AI video turned out, I decided to stick with posting photos of Greece 🤣. Santorini sunrise on the East side of the Island (Fira) then we hiked up & down a mountain to find this gorgeous black sand beach. The day was capped off with amazing views including a picturesque sunset on the other said of the island (Oia). With the craziness of the stock market lately, it’s nice to remember serene moments like this.

Coaching to me is sharing life experiences and using those to inspire others to action. I’m starting a new series after returning from Greece that are things I learned. Today’s topic“Cash is King”:

Before you go, make sure you get LOTS of cash. Convert American dollars to Euros 💶 BEFORE you go. If you exchange when you get there, they charge you a fee. If you use a debit card to get Euros (like we are conditioned to do in the US) they charge you an ADDITIONAL fee (I made the mistake & it cost me $50).
Why would you want cash? Because I learned that most places will negotiate prices if you simply ask “Better with cash?” They get charged a fee from the credit card companies so they’re willing to take less if you pay cash & sometimes it can be substantial. Check your exchange rate right before you go because prices look cheap when they list them in Euros. Something that costs 10 € is actually about $11.40
Like the old Mastercard commercial:
Dinner for 2: 120 €
Creating a lifelong memory for my wife on her birthday: PRICELESS

Continuing our series from Sunday...

This week marks another remarkable moment in American history.

Exactly 200 years ago, on July 4, 1826, both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams passed away—within hours of one another and exactly 50 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

Although they became political rivals, the two eventually rekindled their friendship through years of thoughtful letters and mutual respect. Their lives remind us that a lasting legacy isn't defined by disagreements, but by the values, character, and impact we leave behind.

At BDFG The Financial Coach, conversations about legacy often go beyond finances. They include your family, your goals, your values, and the story you want to leave for future generations.

What kind of legacy do you hope to leave?
