Graduation Time! Not a college degree but a celebration of completion with the Brandywine Cares Small Business Boot Camp - Spring 2026 Class. Realizing the great things that I have done, the gaps that I need to address and the opportunities that still lie ahead are some of the takeaways from this 6-week course with Maria Gaitan and The Urban League of Atlanta Young Professionals. Very valuable learning experience that I could utilize in business and personal lives.

Agility is key when managing business requests and customer expectations. Received a last-minute request from a friend and industry partner for a custom cake he needed in about 36 hours. I was hesitant as I received another late order and also had a wedding cake scheduled the day after. Accepted the request and challenged my expertise and time management to meet the needs of the clients. Scaled to meet the needs of the design, cake preference and occasion. How did we do?

Taste of Marietta 2026 is in the books. Catered Cakes is extremely proud and grateful to be asked back this year to conduct a dessert demo on the Publix Chef Stage. Big shout out to stage host, Chef Raul Thomas, for the invitation. We prepped a simple but delicious Spanish cake cookie batter for the crowd and paired it with a Spanish custard to demonstrate a quick and delicious treat you can prepare at home for family and friends. Increasing my repertoire and expanding my comfort zone in 2026. While comfortability and familiarity may yield ease/increase in performance, it can also create both good AND bad habits and sometime mediocrity. Being great at something and also consistent will always outrank chasing the latest trend and ultimately poor performance. Don't limit yourself but rather manage your trajectory. Upward and onward. Look for some new things from us in the coming year.
