Wellsdale Farm, LLC
Nestled in the mountains of Leicester, North Carolina, Wellsdale Farm represents eight generations of family farming on the same land for more than 150 years.
Three generations of the family were blessed to farm together until 2001. Originally a dairy operation, the farm transitioned to beef cattle in 1993. After years of researching and perfecting their feeding program, they began selling beef directly to the public in 2018 and added pork in 2020.
Today, Wellsdale Farm raises Angus cattle along with Yorkshire and Berkshire hogs. Their work begins by raising the animals from birth and continues through growing and harvesting feed, carefully measuring rations and improving their feeding program each year. Their goal is to give their animals a good life while providing families with healthy, high-quality cuts of meat.
When asked what they enjoy most about farming, they shared:
“Raising the animals from birth. Growing feed, measuring rations per head, and giving them a good life. Also, playing in the dirt. I guess we never truly grow up.”
