Busy times on the farm!

🍠Elwood and a few of the kids got our sweet potato slips planted this morning, and we also enjoyed a few regular potatoes from our garden this week.

🪏Ethan started spreading our free mulch from a local tree company (the pile also makes a great obstacle for the kids to race over!).

🍪The girls are baking sugar and chocolate chip cookies for tomorrow's markets.

✂️Connor is working on his egg-carton caterpillars to sell on Saturdays.

🥩Elwood also secured our processing spot in early August.

🐖 We have feeder pigs coming at the end of June.

Messy kitchen and whole foods! So thankful that Elwood got the herb garden built recently! We added our own mint, basil, thyme, and rosemary to our pasta salad today.

Our garden fairy was hard at work today! We are so thankful for the rain from last week and for hoses to help us pick up where the weather leaves off!

We are continuing our thoughts and plans for regenerating our soil, and it looks like our community is jumping in to help! A local tree-trimming business is planning on dropping off more wood chips. A farmer is bringing over more horse manure. Our local Aldi gave us some old produce about to be burned or go to the landfill. Another tree business is dropping off mulch too!

Oh, and now it's raining again! Thank You, God!

The big update from this week is that we are learning more about Regenerative Agriculture by listening to the famous Gabe Brown and by reading his book Dirt to Soil. His five principles of soil health are reshaping our thinking about how we can be good stewards of the property God has provided for us, and we are so challenged by all the connections to human health.

We'll be set up at the Anderson County Farmers Market tomorrow in slot #4. Even with the rain, it looks like it will be a great selection of producers and crafters! Get some Memorial Day provisions for your get-togethers. We are running a sale on our breakfast sausage, and we will have roasts, bacon, hot sausage, and kielbasa too!

So thankful to be enjoying our own mild sausage with breakfast today! Come on by our farm and get some! Only $12/pound this week! Pasture-raised goodness. No antibiotics, vaccines, or added hormones.
