Today marks one month since my old man, Ramin M Amani left this world for his next one. I’ve felt so lost without him, still catching myself wondering when he might be coming home.
But yesterday, something brought me some real joy. I realized there is something I can do—for him, and for everyone still fighting this awful disease. I lost my love, my mom and my grandfather all to this sh*tty disease and I don’t want more to have to go through what they went through and all that they left behind.
TOMORROW (SUNDAY) , I’m walking in the Scope It Out https://impact.ccalliance.org/fundraiser/7101597?is_new=trueevent to support colon cancer research. It’s last minute, but that feels right. I’m trying to be more like him—showing up, helping others, giving what I can, and holding onto the joy he brought into every single day.
If anyone wants to join me, I’d love to see you there. I’ll be on the National Mall in DC around 8:30 AM, right by the walk-through inflatable colon (yes… he always loved that part) he didn’t love the walking part but he and I always loved that walk to help him and others 😄). The walk starts at 9.
Let’s do something good together—for him, and for so many others who are continuing their fight! Hope to see you there.
