I had every intention of going to Costco, but laziness won and I ended up placing a Woolies order instead. 🤣

The damage? A whopping $570 in groceries, and the craziest part is there’s barely any meat in the haul. We’re talking just 1kg of mince and a roast, yet somehow the total still skyrocketed. Grocery prices are getting absolutely wild these days.

The only thing that made me feel a little better was saving about $58 with discounts, so I’ll take that small victory. šŸ’šŸ¼ā€ā™€ļø I still need to make a trip to Coles for their wraps and the Grill’d sauce, so apparently I’m not done spending yet. šŸ™ˆ Does anyone else leave the store wondering how a cart of groceries cost so much? How much do you spend on a typical weekly grocery shop? Am I the only one shocked that $570 doesn’t seem to go nearly as far as it used to?

This one is funny, but it’s also way too real. 😭

Imagine pulling up and seeing a mountain of groceries, cases of water, soda, paper towels, snacks, household supplies, and bags stacked up for one delivery. You just stand there staring at it thinking, ā€œDid I accept a grocery order or am I helping someone move?ā€ Then you check the details and see: 3rd floor, no elevator, leave at door, and a $0 tip. That’s usually the moment every bit of excitement disappears. šŸ˜…

Some customers seem to forget that orders like this aren’t a simple drop-off. It’s multiple trips, heavy lifting, stairs, time, gas, and a whole lot of effort. Cases of water don’t magically carry themselves upstairs. If you’re ordering enough supplies to stock a small store, it’s only fair to recognize the work involved. Drivers are happy to work hard, but a smiley face in the delivery notes doesn’t help pay for gas or sore knees. Would you accept an order like this with no tip? What’s the craziest grocery delivery you’ve ever seen? Do some customers underestimate how much work goes into hauling these huge orders? šŸ˜…šŸ“¦šŸ’§šŸ›’

I had a large grocery and household order delivered today, and I truly appreciate anyone willing to shop, load, carry, and deliver that much for other people—it’s hard work.

But something happened during the delivery that left me feeling uneasy. As the driver was unloading bags and boxes, I heard a child crying nearby. At first I didn’t think much of it, but then I realized the child was sitting alone in the vehicle while the delivery was being completed.

Maybe the driver was only gone for a minute or two, and maybe everything was completely fine. I understand that many people are juggling work, childcare, and financial pressures, and sometimes they're doing the best they can with the circumstances they have. Still, seeing a child left alone in a vehicle, especially during a larger delivery that took multiple trips, naturally raised some concerns for me.

It made me wonder where the line is between doing what you have to do and taking unnecessary risks. Would seeing something like this change how you felt about the delivery? Would you be concerned, or would you assume the driver was simply doing their best in a difficult situation? What would your reaction be if you witnessed this yourself?

Let's play a game! šŸŽÆ Can anyone guess the final total of this Sam’s Club haul? I'll buy dinner or send a gift card to the first person who gets within 99 cents of the actual amount.

Summer break officially started this weekend, which means it was time to stock up on snacks for our four daughters, ages 16, 14, 11, and 8. We loaded up on all the essentials, plus a few fun splurge items, and now I'm hoping this mountain of snacks lasts at least until the Fourth of July. šŸ˜… What's your best guess for the total? Do you think this haul makes it to America's birthday, or will it be gone in a week? If you had four kids home all summer, what snack would disappear first? šŸæšŸ›’šŸ’ø

This one makes me wonder what happened to communication. 😭 If there’s a gate, a long driveway, or some kind of access issue, why not send a quick message or call the customer? Most people would rather answer a question than find their groceries and water cases sitting outside the gate. Maybe there’s a gate code. Maybe the customer can open it remotely.

Maybe they specifically requested delivery to the door because they can’t easily carry everything themselves. Just unloading heavy items at the entrance and leaving doesn’t really solve the problem—it just transfers the hardest part of the job back to the customer. I understand drivers are on a schedule, but a little communication can go a long way. If you were the customer, would you be okay with your order being left at the gate? Would you expect the driver to contact you first? What would you have done in this situation? šŸ¤”šŸšŖšŸ›’šŸ’§

I’m so frustrated with Instacart right now. To most people, this probably just looks like a grocery order gone wrong, but for my family it was so much more than that. As a mom to a child in a wheelchair and a foster mom to a one-year-old, grocery delivery isn’t just convenient—it helps make an already busy life manageable. I use Instacart regularly and always try to tip well because I truly appreciate the service.

Today, for the first time, everything seemed to fall apart. The shopper started making strange substitutions, then marked item after item as out of stock, including basics like milk, bread, juice, butter, and cereal. I politely asked about alternatives and requested refunds where needed, but my messages went unanswered. Eventually, nearly my entire order was marked unavailable, leaving me with no real reason to continue, so I canceled the order and was charged a $15 cancellation fee.

What made it worse was that after loading up the kids and going to Aldi myself, every single item on my list was sitting right there on the shelves. Every. Single. One. At that point, it wasn’t about the fee anymore—it was about the lack of communication and paying for a service that simply wasn’t provided. Customer service passed me around before finally escalating the issue, but I still ended up doing the shopping myself. Am I wrong for being upset about this? Would you have canceled the order too? How would you handle a shopper who keeps marking everything out of stock while ignoring your messages?

This is the kind of order that makes drivers stop and question their life choices. 😤

Cases of water, paper towels, detergent, grocery bags, and other heavy items stacked up at the bottom of the stairs. If this is going to an upstairs apartment with no elevator, this isn't a quick drop-off anymore. This is multiple trips, heavy lifting, and a full workout before the next order even starts.

A lot of people only see the final delivery photo, but they don't see the driver carrying all that weight up and down stairs using their own vehicle, gas, time, and energy. Some customers order enough supplies to stock a household for weeks and then tip like it was a single bag of chips.

If you live upstairs and order heavy items, especially cases of water, please remember there's a real person doing the lifting. A little appreciation goes a long way.

Would you carry all of this upstairs for a small tip? What's the heaviest order you've ever delivered? Do customers underestimate how much work these grocery deliveries actually require?

I said leave it at the door, not leave the entire order sitting in the common hallway. 😔

We're talking about cases of water, groceries, drinks, paper towels, cleaning supplies, and bags of food just left in a shared area where anyone can walk by, move it, take it, or trip over it. If the order belongs to a specific apartment, shouldn't it be delivered to that apartment instead of being parked at the most convenient spot in the building?

I understand that heavy orders are a lot of work. I understand that stairs aren't fun. But if you accept the delivery, at least communicate with the customer or complete the delivery properly. Leaving everything in a common hallway and marking it delivered feels like stopping halfway through the job.

Customers pay for delivery because they expect their order brought to the correct location, not abandoned in a shared space for everyone else to deal with.

Would you be okay with your order being left like this? Have you ever had a delivery left in a common area instead of at your door? At what point does "good enough" stop being good enough?

I’m honestly trying to understand this delivery. 😔

I said leave it at the door, not scatter my groceries across the porch like a tornado just came through. Bread tossed on the ground, cans rolling around, food mixed in with cleaning supplies, and everything left looking like a complete mess. I’m not expecting some picture-perfect setup, but I do expect a little care and common sense.

If you accept a delivery, shouldn’t the goal be to place the items neatly and safely? Instead, it looks like everything was dropped wherever it landed and the driver just left. Now I have to sort through the chaos before I can even bring my groceries inside.

Am I overreacting, or would you be frustrated too? How hard is it to take an extra 30 seconds to place groceries neatly? Have you ever received a delivery that looked like this?
