Noble Arem Riak is a seasoned banker who previously served as a branch manager at KCB before making a bold shift into the education sector.

In a past interview, Noble recounted how his time in banking exposed him to a recurring concern among many parents. He often watched families struggle to secure scarce foreign currency so they could support children studying in Uganda or other countries. When he asked why they did not enroll their children in schools at home, the answer was almost always the same: there were not enough quality schools in the country.

That realization became a turning point. Determined to help address the gap in access to quality education, Noble left his banking career and founded Darling Wisdom Academy. Today, the school ranks among the leading private institutions in the country, offering both primary and secondary education across two campuses in Juba.

Building on that vision, he later established Amonto Girls School in Shirkat, a girls-only boarding secondary school dedicated to expanding educational opportunities for young women.

Some people wake up before the sun
just to chase a dream that always runs
Their hands are tired, and their backs are sore
but they show up, day after day
but still—we try.

We used to pray and feel heard
now it feels like God forgot every word
The sky is quiet, the answers slow
and all we do is work and hope
but still—we try.

The system wasn’t built for all of us
some get lifts, some get dust
It keeps some low and calls it fate
like being stuck is just our place
but still—we try.

We push, we sweat, we wipe our eyes
We carry loads that aren’t even ours
I'm just trying to make it to the next hour
but still—we try.

And maybe!
if every man had a fair shot
if no one’s wings were tied in knots
we’d all be flying by now
not crawling just to make it somehow
but still—we try.

Giving up?
It’s not in our bones
Even when we feel alone
Even when the prayers take too long
and the nights feel twice as strong
still—we try.

Let this day be more than rest
let it honor the quiet, the worn, the stressed
the ones who keep showing up
even when life doesn’t show them love
still—we try.

To the workers, the dreamers, the barely survivors,
the broken, the hopeful, the never-stoppers
this poem is for you.

We’re not there yet
but we still climb
Still holding on
still chasing sky
and still—we try.
