A historic day for Svalbard 🎉 It’s been 100 years since the Svalbard Act came into force, making Svalbard officially part of Norway 🇳🇴

We’ve decorated the lobby with flags and snacks, and you can even check if your country is a signatory of the Svalbard Treaty. Maybe pick up a Svalbard hat or neck gaiter from the lobby shop to join the celebrations? 🥳

Later today, we’ll mark the centenary with cake from ’s very own bakery and a big gathering on the town square, joined by HRH Crown Prince Haakon, Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre, and Minister of Justice and Public Security Astri Aas-Hansen.

Today is the Earth Day.
Here on Svalbard we are celebrating our planet every day. Not only by admiring but also caring. In small gestures like sustainable products for our guests and cleaning, controlling the food waste and water usage. In bigger things like use of solar and wind energy.
Today we invite you to celebrate our planet as well and think what you can do to take care of our home.
