As with all of the best chapters in life, eventually it’s time to turn the page!

Later this year, Michael and I will be leaving St Helena to begin a new adventure! A difficult decision that’s both exciting and bittersweet.

Looking back, I could never have imagined all that I've been lucky enough to be part of, and how much this tiny island would come to mean to me. I’ve met some truly wonderful people, made lifelong friends, and been welcomed into a community that has supported me throughout my time here. I’ve even managed to get to grips with “Saint talk”… although I'm certainly not brave enough to claim I’ve mastered plo, fishcakes or boil puddin’! I'll leave that to the experts!😉

It’s been an absolute privilege to cook for you, serve you, cater your celebrations, events and even weddings! To host our pop-up dining evenings, and simply chat over a coffee. Those are the moments I’ll remember most.

When I started baking from home, rushing deliveries into Jamestown just in time before everyone disappeared onto the bus, I never imagined Dan’s would become what it is today. From those early mornings alone turning into thousands of Zayden’s coffees and milkshakes, countless cinnamon buns, Lorraine’s daily specials, Cindy’s cakes and plo, Mamma June’s boil puddin’, endless chicken jalapeño wraps, private dinners, events and everything in between… it really has been an incredible journey.

What I’m most proud of, though, isn’t the food. It’s the social, community hub that has grown around Dan’s. Built by my fabulously talented team! Seeing people meet friends, celebrate milestones, meet and work over coffee, or simply make us part of their daily routine has been a genuine privilege. (And Zayden has mastered all of those regular orders!)

But this isn’t the end for Dan’s!

As I prepare to relocate, I’m exploring the best options for the future of the business. Which could mean continuing to support the operation from afar with my fantastic team, or finding the right person to take ownership and build on everything we’ve created together.

As part of that process, I’m inviting expressions of interest from anyone who may be interested in acquiring the business as a going concern. If you think you could be the next chapter in the story of Dan’s, I’d love to hear from you. Financial records showing current cost of sales and profitability will be made available to those with serious interest.

Thank you to every customer, every member of staff - past and present, every supplier, every friend, and everyone who has supported this little corner of Jamestown over the last few years. You have all played a part in making Dan’s what it is today, and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Whatever happens next, St Helena will always remain very, very special to me!🤩🇸🇭
