Today, on the 15th day of Chinese New Year (3 March), we celebrate the first full moon — a meaningful symbol of fullness, wholeness, and reunion.

In Chinese tradition, round shapes represent harmony and completeness. That is why families gather to enjoy 汤圆 (Tang Yuan), soft glutinous rice balls shaped in perfect circles to symbolise unity and togetherness.

On the 7th day of Chinese New Year — 人日 (Ren Ri) — we celebrate what is known as “Everyone’s Birthday.”

According to tradition, this is the day mankind was created. Which means no matter your age, your zodiac sign, or your actual birth date… today, we all grow one year older together.

There’s something quietly beautiful about that.

In a world that often feels divided, 人日 reminds us that we begin the same way — human. Sharing the same table. The same laughter. The same hope for a better year ahead.

In the old days, families would gather for a special meal on this day — a symbolic way to “add blessings” and welcome longevity, prosperity, and good health. The table wasn’t just for eating.
