growing up, i never really understood how much work went into kapitan.
to me, it was just “dad going to the restaurant again” 😅
but behind the scenes, he was working a full-time job managing ships during the day… then coming here after work to keep this place running. every single day.
kapitan actually started from a memory he had back in maritime college — a small dumpling shop that was always full of people, good food, and conversation. when he moved to singapore, he wanted to recreate that feeling here. ❤️
it started as just a dumpling shop, but over time became what kapitan is today: a little home for eastern european & central asian comfort food 🇵🇱🇰🇿🇺🇿
there were a lot of hard moments too.
covid hit right after opening.
some months were amazing, some were really difficult.
but somehow, people would discover us, try the food, bring their friends back, and remind us why this place matters. 🥹
so if you’ve ever supported kapitan, shared our videos, visited us, or even told a friend about us… thank you. genuinely.
and if you haven’t been here yet, maybe this is your sign to come by, say hi, and try something new with us ☺️
