I love hearing from anyone who has bought my cookbook and was thrilled to find a lovely email nestling in my inbox from a US-based ex-BBC playwright Judith Kampfner. Judith wrote a play for the beeb while she was living in Singapore; it follows the lives of British colonial women in 1960s Singapore which seem charmed because they have so much freedom - but are they aware of problems back in their homes that cause both children and servants to suffer? Listen right to the end. Which character do you identify with, if any?

My cookbook obsession is getting *slightly* out of control. We’ve just moved house and I now have them where I can see them: 130 cookbooks, and counting. A few have been given to me when people leave Singapore and want to cull. I have hilarious retro classics from the 60s all the way to present day powerhouses!
PS the picture shows just half of it!
