Arthur Fleck - Joker (2019)
There are laughs that are not born from happiness... they are born from pain.
š„ In Joker, directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix, we donāt see the birth of a villain... we see the fall of a man.
But itās not just what we see thatās more shocking... itās all that was behind to build it.
š The transformation was real
Phoenix lost more than 20 pounds for paper, taking her body to an extreme state to transmit physical and mental fragility.
š§ The mind broke too
The actor himself confessed that the process was so intense that he felt like he was āstarting to lose himselfā within the character.
The laughter... the hardest thing
It wasnāt improvised: he worked it obsessively to convey pain, discomfort and illness at the same time.
𤔠The Joker was born in motion
Many scenes, such as the dance, came up
spontaneously during filming, allowing the character to
āappearā rather than act.
And thatās where this scene hits different...
Youāre not watching a performance.
You are looking at transformation.
Itās not a joke.
Itās a body that no longer responds.
Itās a mind that no longer finds a way out.
šæ Because the real horror of the Joker...
thatās not what it does.
Is understanding why he got there..
