PRAYERS FOR NEPAL 🇳🇵
WHY IS THERE SO MUCH SUFFERING?
When we see floods, earthquakes, pestilences, destruction, and the loss of innocent lives, one question naturally rises in our hearts:
“Why does God allow so much suffering?”
The Bible teaches us that suffering was never God’s original plan for humanity.
When sin entered the world through humanity’s fall, creation itself was affected. Pain, death, disease, violence, and suffering became part of a world broken by sin.
Satan is the originator of sin and the enemy of God and humanity. Scripture describes him as a destroyer who seeks to bring misery and destruction.
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”
— John 10:10
And in the closing days of earth’s history:
“Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time.”
— Revelation 12:12
Ellen G. White writes in Last Day Events:
“It is Satan’s power that is at work at sea and on land, bringing calamity and distress and sweeping off multitudes…”
— Last Day Events, p. 166
These words help us understand that the suffering we see is part of a world caught in the great conflict between good and evil.
THE LAST DAYS
Jesus warned that as earth’s history approaches its close:
“There shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.”
— Matthew 24:7–8
And again:
“And great earthquakes shall be in divers places, and famines, and pestilences…”
— Luke 21:11
These prophecies are not given to make us live in fear.
They are a call to wake up.
A call to pray.
A call to love.
A call to serve.
A call to draw closer to God.
A call to prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus.
BUT THIS IS IMPORTANT:
The suffering of Nepalese families does NOT mean that they are being punished by God for their sins.
Jesus never taught us to look at victims of tragedy with condemnation.
When people suffered tragedies in His time, Christ directed His hearers away from judgment and toward repentance, humility, and dependence upon God.
Today, our response should be the same:
Not condemnation, but compassion.
Not blame, but prayer.
Not fear, but faith.
Not despair, but hope.
TO OUR NEPALESE BROTHERS AND SISTERS 🇳🇵
We may not have answers to every question.
We may not understand every loss.
But we want you to know:
YOU ARE NOT ALONE.
We pray for every family grieving the loss of a loved one.
We pray for those searching for family and friends.
We pray for those who have lost their homes and livelihoods.
We pray for the injured, the displaced, the frightened, and the weary.
And we pray for every rescuer, volunteer, medical worker, and neighbor reaching out to help.
May God hold you close in the moments when the pain feels unbearable.
“The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
— Psalm 34:18
THERE IS STILL HOPE
The enemy may bring destruction, but Satan will not have the final word.
Sin will not have the final word.
Suffering will not have the final word.
Death will not have the final word.
JESUS CHRIST WILL.
The same Jesus who calmed the storm promises to one day make all things new.
There will come a day when:
“God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain.”
— Revelation 21:4
That is our hope.
A world without floods.
A world without earthquakes.
A world without disease.
A world without death.
A world without tears.
A world restored by the hands of our Creator.
SO TODAY, LET US PRAY.
Let these calamities awaken our hearts—not to fear, but to faith.
Let us become the hands that help,
the hearts that comfort,
the voices that pray,
and the people who point others to Jesus.
Until He comes, let us stand together.

WE PRAY FOR NEPAL.
WE WILL NOT LOSE HOPE.
OUR HOPE IS JESUS.
“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”
“In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.”
“And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”
— John 14:1–3, KJV
What a beautiful promise.
Jesus is coming again. JESUS IS COMING SOON.
And suffering will not last forever. 🙏
