REFRAIN FROM NOISE POLLUTION

DECEMBER 22, 2025

Citizens Are Encouraged to refrain from causing noise pollution during the festive season, rather celebrate Christmas and New Year (2026) peacefully, NCD/Central Command Assistant Police Commissioner Ben Turi.

The Top Cop said loud music, causing unwanted noise pollution, is the activity police will be strictly monitoring when patrolling the surburbs of National Capital District, especially settlements. Also included into the operation is the Central Province.

"Police will not hesitate but have been ordered by the higher hierarchy to come into your house and remove your studio if your music is too loud, causing noise pollution," APC Turi said.

General public are encouraged to call police immediately on their hotline numbers if the vicinity they are living is disturbed by noise pollution, especially after 10pm.

"When making the complaint, provide obvious information such as house number and street - making it convenient for police to curb the noise polluters.

"Five meters away from your house is a public space, not for you to drink and make noise pollution along the roadside by hearing music," Turi said.

ACP Turi encouraged his officers to attend to noise pollution complaints immediately and make arrest if citizens break the law.

Christmas Season is around the corner followed by New Year period and the Ensisi Valley Community Neighborhood Watch is ON again from Fridays - Sundays during the weekends only with again along Ensisi avenue to Tokarara Koura Way via Tango.

All Officers Police, Defence, CIS and St John's Ambulance on Duty throughout the Festive Season & New Year periods are most welcome to stop by and share a Cup of coffee with the community and mingle around to know and understand each other better forming a welcoming relationship during this period.

Watchout for a Blue Tent and Boys manning the Coffee Station along the avenue. ☕☕🍵🍵💙💙🚉🚉🚂.

Setting up off the cones and getting ready to wind down Year_2024 and End it off with a Trouble_Free closing with mini street Fireworks display and Embrace the coming and transition of Year_2025.

And this will seal off the last night of the 2024 Christmas and New Year 2025 Operations of until the end of 2025.

We take this opportunity to convey our sincere appreciation and thank you to all those youths who volunteered for the coffee with a cop by making a successful event and first of it kind to be introduce in Port Moresby at Ensisi Valley.

We also thank all those generous people who donated or contributed in kind to the success of this worthy successful event coming to an End last night at 00:00 without any trouble or accident.

One cup of coffee can mean a lot ☕☕🍵🍵.

This is where it started from by the Metere Street Youths of Ensisi Valley and Residents came up with the community initiative using the idea of derived from a Hawthorn community in California State "Coffee with a Cop" as the link below shows how the Ex Service Men from the Police came up with this concept to mingle around with the general public to get to know their communities they serve better by engaging with conversations over a cup of coffee to build relationships, trust and restore confidence between the people and the Police.

And so the 3 Youth Leaders Steven Mokis, Anthony Here Ovia and Junior James Wanjik took it on board and mobilise their youths to trial out the Hawthorn, California Ex-Service Men Coffee with a Cop here in Metere Street - Ensisi Valley as a Pilot Project as a way of protecting their own community in addition to the widely know Neighbourhood Watch.

Coffee with a Cop brings police officers and the community members they serve together–over coffee–to discuss issues and learn more about each other.

It's not only about Neighbourhood Watch but it's about working in partnership with Police, Defence and CIS building Institutional capacity, building relationships, trust, confidence and promoting community policing amongst police and communities to maintain greater participation and involvement in peace, harmony and social interaction.

This is how it started from an article of Retired Ex-Policemen in California who got together to provide Coffee with a Cop for ex-colleagues with a hot Cupa coffee through from the cold nights while on duty.

This is how it started from a article of Retired Ex Policemen in Californian State who banded together to provide Coffee with a Cop to assist the ex colleagues with a hot cuppa coffee to get them through from the cold nights while on duty.

And so the Youths of Metere Street of Ensisi Valley Community took this as a motivational challenge to try out the concept to trial it out here in PNG for the COPS on night duties for the Christmas and New Year 2024 Operations.

They all vowed to do it every year on Christmas and New Year periods for the hardworking Policemen and Policewomen including the Defence and CIS supporting the good work of the RPNGC.

We appreciate all the community residents, the public who are and will donate or contribute coffee, tea, sugar, scones, biscuits, muffins and cupcakes to the FREE_COP-COFFEE Station and also commend our Night Duty Operation Officers of Police, Defence and CIS for doing a tremendous job and may our Heavenly Father bless and protect you all in serving our people and communities on their safety and protection ❤️💖🙏🙏🙏💙🩵.
