Pop up shop for Women’s Refuge. La Mer Lounge at the racecourse.
9-5 every day till Sundays. Bargains are happening from today.

I’ve been volunteering at the Pop op Shop for Women’s Refuge this week.
There are literally thousands of garments and they’re all clean and beautiful! I found some gorgeous pieces to make dolls clothes from - and even some to actually wear 💃
It’s on at the La Mer Lounge at the Racecourse until midday Sunday. Opens at 9am each day.
And there’s a colouring in table to occupy the littlies while mum shops at leisure 🥰
Theres definitely something for everyone and for such an excellent cause ❤️🩵🩷

Well the Italian Banana Doughnuts SOLD OUT fast on Sunday 💃
And the lack of a working fryer didnt hold me back - my pot worked well. I’ll take the fryer back today and see what they say about its lack of function.

No breads (or doughnuts) for the next 2 weeks peeps. We’ll be away visiting other cafes 🚎🥂

Italian Banana Doughnuts anyone? They’ve turned out “Bellissimo”💃
A little crunchy on the outside and very soft and fluffy and tender in the middle. How Jammy!!
You can find them amongst my usual fabulous Lemonwood breads at the Crafty Fox in Oakura this morning.
Rosemary and Sesame Focaccia
Rustic brown oat and molasses bread
Batons of crunchy/tender Stecca
Cinnamon pinwheel scrolls
A few loaves of rustic Ciabatta
And of course - Donuts
We open at 9.30 today. Ciao babes 💃🥂

Remember these?
Italian banana doughnuts Lemonwood (and Bach) style. Well I’ve been asked so many times to make them I thought I’d buy a little domestic fryer and make some for my Sunday customers.
I thought I should practice using it tonight to see how long it takes to heat up.

It wouldn’t heat up.
In fact it wouldn’t turn on.
I read the instructions thoroughly and they didn’t tell me how to basically turn it on.
I googled how to turn it on.
No help there - my model (same as the online video) doesn’t have a separate plug. Mine has a built in one and no way will it turn on.
However I’m committed to using the fabulous dough I’ve made - so I’ll fry them like I would have before you could buy deep fryers for the home.
I’ll use a big pot! And I’ll use my candy thermometer - or a cube of bread.
The people WILL get their donuts tomorrow 💃

Just a teeny reminder that there’s no Lemonwood breads tomorrow friends. This weekend I’ve resurrected my rusty nursing skills for a few days as Alans poorly.
However, in between delivering nourishing drinks laced with painkillers and other nursely things, I’m stitching French Pears for my stall in November at the
Oakura Makers Market.
I’ll have a few fabulously desirable gifty treats to surprise you with.
Breads will be back on next weekend when Alans recovered 🩵🩷❤️
(Of course I’ve made some fabulous sourdough Wholemeal and oat bread for our lunch tomorrow 💃)

No Lemonwood breads tomorrow peeps.
We’re at a workshop weekend of resounding African Rhythms.
Drumming, marimbas, n’goni, SINGING and dancing. We just join in the classes of our choice.
And did I say the food is terrific with plenty of delicious vegan options? Well it is. Lian is the chef and her husband Sidarth is the drumming teacher, with our own Julian and Laura on singing and marimbas. We’re having the best time 💃🪘

Spot the difference.
On the left is what I ordered from (supposedly) Wendy’s Waihi Beach boutique closing down sale.
Gauzy cotton/linen patchwork dress. No stretch, small size , only one left in stock. Be quick. I was quick - to part with my money.
After a few weeks of reassuring emails saying my purchase wasn’t far away (it was - in Hong Kong), the couriers were overworked and busy.
My parcel finally arrived. But it’s not quite as described as you can see. It’s a heavy sh*tty polyester knit fabric which has been printed with a photo of that (stolen image) dress, then cut out in a rough frock shape. Hideous!!
And no such place as Wendy’s boutique.
That’s the last item of clothing I buy like that.
Caveat Emptor -Let the Buyer Beware. (I learned that phrase at high school)
Pi**ed off doesn’t begin to describe my reaction.
