Behind the scenes at Cafe Nectar at Morris&James

Although we’ve been closed to the public for a little while, we’ve been keeping very busy behind the scenes with some beautiful private functions and events — serving up our delicious catering, with plenty of gluten-free, dairy-free and vegan options too!

Here are a few moments we’ve been lucky enough to be part of recently:

Pink Ribbon Lunch with our friends from Fling Cocktails.

Morris & James - our much-missed neighbours - launching their amazing new book with some of our favourite finger food.

An intimate staff party for the wonderful team at Muddy Toes Kindy, who have been so incredibly supportive of Little Ocean. We’re very grateful for you all!

A beautiful lunch for the staff at matakana palms.

And a fun collaboration with our friends at Rural Rhythm Co-op, serving the finest beats alongside our smoked brisket & Kawakawa, fry bread

We absolutely love creating food for special occasions, and it’s been so lovely staying connected with our community through these events while we’re closed.

Starting Thursday 4th June, our freshly baked gluten-free and vegan focaccia bread will be available for pickup from — $24 per slab.

We’ll also have:

• Our famous large gluten-free pizza bases — 2 pack for $12
• Heat-and-eat gluten-free pulled brisket lasagnas
• Gluten-free & vegan spinach and feta cannelloni

Both meals are freezer friendly and available in:
• Single serve — $25
• Family size — $60

All Orewa orders need to be pre-ordered by Wednesday 3rd June.

For Matakana pickup, please place your orders by Friday 5th June for collection on Saturday 6th June from Nectar at Morris & James.

Hi Nectar friends,

We just wanted to let you know that we’ll be taking a short break and will be closed for a little while to enjoy some well-deserved quality time with our family.

We are incredibly grateful for your continued support, kindness, and loyalty—it truly means the world to us and has helped make Nectar what it is today.

This isn’t goodbye, just a pause. We’ll be back refreshed, recharged, and excited to welcome you all again soon.

In the meantime, keep an eye on this space for updates. We can’t wait to see you again!

Casual / Part-time Barista Wanted – Nectar Café @ Morris & James, Matakana

We are looking for a casual / part-time barista to join our team at Nectar Café, located at Morris & James in Matakana.
Shifts are mainly Saturdays and Sundays, with the possibility of extra hours during the week as we get busier.

We offer a great work environment in a beautiful setting, with a friendly and supportive team.

The role includes:
• Making delicious coffees and hot/cold drinks
• Serving customers
• Running coffees and food
• Cleaning
• Set up and pack down

Hey Nectar Friends, You may or may not have heard that I have been battling stage 4 lung cancer for a bit more than a year, and it has progressed to my bones. The worst is on my spine and is touching the nerves, and I could be paralyzed. I have also had other operations due to blood vessels being blocked from the spine tumour. Unfortunately, I can’t walk for the last couple of months and so I sadly have been unable to work and help Satya. Satya has been holding down the fort so well, it has been hard, and we still have hope that I will be back at it again soon. Thank you to all the customers for your kind words, patience, medicine, and love. We really appreciate all the love. Xox Tahnee & Satya. My friends set me up a givealittle just for the treatment, which is not funded. However, I don’t expect anyone to do that, but if you could share, that would be much appreciated. We are Looking forward to serving all your beautiful friendly faces again. ❤️ lots of yummy menu & cabinet food & drinks & some new fresh salads I’m quite excited about. Break up your busy weekend for a stop over in our chill serene vibe in the bustling busy beach time or matakana markets.
We have a big kids playground, toys, heaps of parking and we are animal friendly 🙌🌻

What a year it has been!
Looking forward to the new fresh year and all the goodness it will offer.
We are taking a little bit of time off but will come back with a fresh new updated menu , coming back refreshed and bringing the good vibes x
