Things we’ve learnt this winter running an outdoor restaurant…
People (and the nasturtiums) are hardier than we thought.
Pizza tastes pretty good in a woolly hat.
Van Morrison sounds better in the winter sun.
A woolly blanket over your knees is surprisingly underrated.
And sometimes the people bring as much warmth to the garden as the pizza oven does.
When we decided to stay open through winter, we genuinely didn’t know if anyone would come.
But you did.
You came smiling, rugged up, found a sunny spot, grabbed a blanket, laughed about the cold and seemed genuinely happy to be here.
And that’s probably what we’re most grateful for. Not just that you’ve kept coming through winter, but that you’ve come in exactly the spirit we’d hoped for.
So, with a few winter weekends still to go and some spring warmth around the corner — thank you. ❤️
