I DIDN’T START SLIM OLOBE JUST TO SELL FOOD.
I started Slim Olobe because I understood something very simple:
People are busy, but they still want good Nigerian food.
They want the soups and meals they grew up eating. They want food that tastes familiar, feels homemade, and is prepared with care without spending hours in the kitchen.
But building Slim Olobe has taught me that running a food business is about far more than knowing how to cook.
I have had to learn about costing, pricing, sourcing, portions, packaging, customer service, logistics, waste, staff, marketing, and profit.
And I am still learning.
There have been days when an order looked profitable until I calculated everything that went into producing it.
There have been products I’ve had to rethink.
Prices I’ve had to change.
Systems I’ve had to rebuild.
And plenty of moments when I’ve asked myself:
“How can we do this better?”
That question has become one of the most important questions in my business.
Because my goal isn’t simply to build a business that sells soup.
I want to build a food company that can last.
A company with standards.
A company with systems.
A company that understands its numbers.
A company customers can trust.
A company that can grow beyond its founder.
So I’m going to start sharing more of that journey here.
Not only the beautiful bowls of food.
I’ll share some of the decisions behind them.
The wins.
The mistakes.
The numbers.
The experiments.
The lessons.
And what it really takes to build a Nigerian food business.
I’m still building.
And I think that part of the story is worth sharing too.
I’m Sade, founder of Slim Olobe.
Welcome to the business behind the food. ❤️
