💍 BEFORE YOU SAY “I DO,” READ THIS…
Many young ladies are so obsessed with getting married that they forget there is so much more to marriage than wearing a beautiful wedding gown and receiving an expensive wedding ring.
We dream about the gown.
We dream about the engagement ring.
We dream about the pictures, the decorations, the honeymoon and the beautiful Instagram/Facebook posts.
But how much are we preparing for what comes after the wedding day?
Because marriage is not just about being called Mrs. It is about learning how to communicate when you are angry, how to resolve conflicts without destroying each other, how to manage finances, how to forgive, how to compromise, how to support your partner, and how to remain committed when life doesn't look like the beautiful pictures you posted.
The wedding is an event. Marriage is a journey.
A beautiful gown can make you look like a princess for one day, but character, wisdom, emotional maturity, patience and understanding are what will help you build a home.
Don't spend all your time preparing to be a bride and forget to prepare to be a wife.
And don't be so desperate to answer the question, “When will I get married?” that you forget to ask yourself:
“Am I becoming the kind of person who is ready for a healthy marriage?”
Marriage should not just be something you desperately want to have. It should be a responsibility you are genuinely prepared to carry.
Because at the end of the wedding day, the guests will go home, the makeup will come off, the gown will be hung in the wardrobe, the flowers will fade, and the ring will simply become part of your everyday life.
Then the real work begins.
