Hello Hello!!

🍴So it has been really long since I posted something for my wonderful online friends.

🍴Let us just say that I have been a little uninspired with the food I have been tasting until recently.

🍴I stumbled on this little Nasi Lemak stall in SS14 Subang Jaya called The Old Estate. The stall is located in the hawker shop at the crossroad in SS14 (sorry I forgot to take down the name of the shop).

🍴Anyways what I liked about this Nasi Lemak was that the rice was really tasty and most importantly fragrant. It is so hard to find good NASI Lemak that tickles your taste buds the minute you take a whiff.

🍴I took the Sambal Petai and man was it spicy. But the good thing was that although it was fiery on the tongue, you could still taste the rest of the flavours. The petai was lovely against the sweetness of the onions in the sambal.

🍴I like that the egg was fried really well. I have an issue with runny eggs.

🍴So all in all this quaint little stall called The Old Estate gets a 8/10 from me.

🍴Ok heads up guys. Just had the best ice cream in my life by !! Homemade, original ice cream sold by a sweet lady in Weng Yin Seafood Village, Port Dickson! Must try.
🍴She has several flavours including Coconut, Gula Melaka, Sesame, Sweet Corn, Yam, Durian and Lychee.
🍴I had the Yam and Sweetcorn and was blown away. The yam was the real deal. The flavour was reminiscent of the Yam ice cream we used to get back when I was a kid. The sweet corn was delicious and had real corn bits in it. That is actually my checklist for a good sweetcorn ice cream.
🍴The Gula Melaka ice cream was not too sweet and the caramel taste of the authentic sugar native to Melaka. Loved it!
🍴I am not a fan of coconut ice cream but I must say I was impressed with this one. Creamy and smooth, the taste of coconut was just delish.

💕Find this pretty aunty and her wonderful ice cream flavours in Port Dickson the next time you visit.

Update: Fri and Sat 6pm-10pm Sunday 1pm-3pm. Weekdays closed.

🍴Recently my mom, brother and I went back to our old neighbourhood, Sentul to visit some friends. On our way we decided to stop by Desi Chappati in Jalan Haji Salleh for a bite to eat. ⁣
🍴The place is rather modest but do not be fooled by its unassuming exterior. The food was quite delicious. ⁣
🍴We ordered two Chappathis, one Gobi Paratha and one Butter Chappathi. ⁣
🍴The Chappathis were really soft but the Butter Chappathi elevated the taste to a whole other level. I mean butter makes anything taste good. ⁣
🍴My favourite however was the Gobi (Cauliflower) Paratha. They did not stinge on the stuffing and the sweetness from the cauliflower added another layer of flavour to the wheat flour. ⁣
🍴 To accompany our bread dishes for the day we ordered Paneer Butter Masala. The taste was a little different compared to other restaurants , however it was still tasty for me. ⁣
🍴There was a huge dollop of butter on the top of the dish before I stirred it in to amp the flavours (and cholesterol levels). ⁣
🍴We also ordered a plate of the Bhindi Masala (Okra Masala) but that was overcooked for me and lacked the usual kick of the delicious dish. ⁣
🍴I also ordered a Ginger tea but it had no hint of ginger at all. My brother got a Mango Lassi and that was to die for. It was the perfect drink to wash down the meal. ⁣
🍴I truly enjoyed the meal for the day minus the Okra. The place gets a 7/10 from me. ⁣

The place is also on Grab Food and Food Panda so for those who live close by and want to have a good meal in the comfort of your home, grab your phone. ❤️⁣

It has been a while, my apologies. Was caught in the middle of changing career paths. But am back. ⁣

There is no better way to beat this heat than enjoying nice cold Cendol. Even better- Cendol Gula Melaka. Malaysia’s very own decadent ice shaved dessert with local Palm Sugar. ⁣

My Mother-In-Law and I stumbled on this humble but rather famous-with-the-locals stall in Old Town PJ called Aunty Peggy’s. ⁣

She serves the best Cendol Gula Melaka with the real deal. None of those fake Gula Melaka stuff for her. She brings in the best from Melaka to ensure quality ingredients. ⁣

Her Cendol is super creamy thanks to the Santan (coconut milk) that has a little bit of saltiness to break down the sweet Gula Melaka. Just the right proportion to ensure we don’t feel sick after a couple of mouthfuls. ⁣

There are enough condiments underneath the mountain of shaved ice to give each spoonful good texture. Perfect for me! ⁣

She even has Ice Kacang with Gula Melaka. Take your pick. ⁣
Better be early though because she runs out pretty fast especially on the weekends. By tea time you might miss out on the delicious dessert! ⁣

Aunty Peggy’s gets a 8/10 rating from me. ⁣

Her stall is located in PJ Old Town’s Food Court located next to the old market! ⁣

Loved this chocolatey cocktail at . Made up of dark rum with Belvedere Vodka, it’s like sinking your lips into spiked chocolate with a hint of hazelnut. Comes in this super cute cocktail glass with lights from Belvedere and is topped with liquor chocolates wrapped in lemon rind for that extra kick. This cocktail gets a 9/10 from me. 👉🏼Next up is the new Angel Hair Seafood Curry Laksa, a modern twist of the classic street food. The broth was super flavourful while there was a generous portion of seafood delights including clams, squid and prawns the Angel Hair Pasta gave it an interesting texture. I give this a 8/10. 👉🏼Then we had the new Angel Hair Seafood Curry Laksa, a modern twist of the classic street food. The prawn chettinad was really tasty, not too spicy but just enough to add flavours to the naan. The prawn was also cooked for just the right amount of time so it was still soft. This combo gets a 8/10 too. 😘Loved the food today.

The best nasi lemak I have had in a while at a quiet cafe called Tea & Toast in Glenmarie Shah Alam. I loved that the rice was all fluffy with just a hint of coconut milk and the Chicken Rendang was the best part of it for me. It had enough kerisik (something most places stinge on) giving it a delicate flavour and texture. It was slightly on the sweeter side but had enough heat to satisfy my palate. The sambal was also tasty but not too spicy which i prefer. They also have other side dishes for the nasi lemak including fried chicken, Chicken Sambal and fried egg. The place is located at 38 Jalan Jurureka U1/40 Hicom- Glenmarie Industrial Park.

Droped by a new joint called Delhi Grill in Brickfields and found a gem in their Dahi Puri. The curd is nice and tangy, while the shell is thin and crispy. They added the mixture in there and little pomegranate seeds for the sweetness. I loved how everything came together in this dish. We ended up ordering a second plate. However I do believe they need to add in a little more mixture inside for the added crunch. Seems too little for RM6 (5pieces). The same goes for the Pani Puri. There was not enough filling in the shells. The sauce was quite sour and could use a little bit of sugar to balance it out. This was priced at RM5. But overall if I had a Pani Puri or Dahi Puri craving, I’d still go back. My vote is 7/10. The place is located a couple of lots away from the Sentral Monorail station (opp KL Sentral). @ Delhi Grill

Our latest find in Glenmarie Shah Alam. Thong Kee Cafe is one of the busiest outlets on that stretch. Getting a place here on the weekend is a nightmare but the Ham and Cheese Croissant paired with a cold cup of Milo Kosong Ais is well worth the wait and struggle. The Croissant is soft and fluffy while the salty ham is fresh and tasty. They also have Char Kuey Teow that is a bit too oily for me but the taste hits all the right notes. There are other food stalls too, one of it is a rather famous Nasi Lemak. People look quite contented having it. 😁 The food here gets a 7.5/10 for me.

The famous Ipoh Taugeh Ayam was a hit with my family last weekend when we were up north for a short getaway. A quick google search brought us to this shop Restoran Lou Wong Tauge Ayam at the heart of Ipoh town near the Gerbang Malam. Am generally not a steamed chicken fan, the white skin puts me off a little but I must say this chicken was packed with flavours. Each bite with a mouthful of their fragrant rice was really satisfying. Their rice was aromatic from the chicken stock I believe. The taugeh was a little bland but tolerable. Another favourite was the Steamed Tofu that is not in this pic (arrived a little late). It was super fresh and bouncy. My vote is 7.5/10.
