Zen Is Not in the Temple, Zen is in the kitchen — It’s in the Fire, the Pot, and Your Hands
Zen is often imagined as silence on a mountain, monks in robes, or hours of sitting still.
But Zen never lived far away from life.
Zen lives right here — in chopping vegetables, stirring the pot, feeling the heat of the fire, and paying attention to what is in front of you.
The mind that cooks the meal is not a lower mind.
It is the same mind that awakens — when it is not divided.
When cooking becomes only a task, the mind is asleep.
When cooking becomes presence, the Way reveals itself.
Zen does not ask you to escape the world.
Zen asks you to enter it completely.
No special posture.
No sacred object.
No future enlightenment.
Just this moment.
Just this action.
Just this awareness.
If you can be totally present while cooking a simple meal,
you are already walking the Way.
Nothing is missing.
Nothing is extra.
Nothing needs to be added.
🔥 Chop wood.
🍲 Cook food.
🧘♂️ Wake up.
