Some cities are best understood from the water. Seda Tekemen has spent years documenting İstanbul through film. Unhurried, grain and all, finding the city’s truest self in the moments between departures. Her series The Passengers of Istanbul’s Waves doesn’t just capture people on the Bosphorus. It captures what it means to move through a city that has always lived by the sea, shaped by it, softened by it.
Film doesn’t lie. And neither does İstanbul.

‘I recently documented a campaign centered on a family keffiyeh factory based in Jordan, originally built in Palestine. The factory is a practice that began with my friend’s Palestinian grandfather in the 1940s and continues today with their family.’

‘KUVRD was built to bring that heritage into a modern context. We are a streetwear and cultural goods brand rooted in Arab identity, with the factory sitting at the center of the story. Through this campaign, we’re documenting the workshop, the artisans, and the process behind each keffiyeh made.’

Some cities have a skyline. İstanbul has the Bosphorus. 🌊🌹

sadece deniz doesn’t photograph the sea - rather, a relationship with it. One built on the kind of intimacy where you know exactly when it will turn and pose for you. Where you board a ferry for the millionth time and still feel like a child seeing water for the first time. Where the sea puts on its most beautiful dress and you already have your camera ready.

The Bosphorus isn’t a backdrop. It’s a living, breathing thing, capable of sadness, joy, and a different shade of blue every single day.

And all they have to do is press the shutter.

Reclaiming the Future by Usf

‘In a stripped, post-apocalyptic world, nothing is accidental. We draw from Egyptian heritage not to preserve it, but to rebuild it. Tradition is no longer sacred; it is reshaped, redefined, reclaimed. Power lives in control. Identity is chosen, not inherited. This is a world that remembers its past, but refuses to be bound by it.’

WAASTAA City Guide: Bodrum, Türkiye

A study of stillness, in a place known for the opposite.

Not the loud version of Bodrum. No table you need a following to get into, no performance of a good time. Just the places that hold something quieter, where the light lands right, the coffee is good enough to stay for, and beauty shows up in the ordinary moment rather than the staged one.

This is a guide for the ones who go looking for that: the creatives, the quiet observers, anyone who’d rather find peace than prove they were somewhere. Nature, taste, and the best of both worlds.

Piha Bodrum — Gündoğan
Coffee, beach, and drinks. The full package, all in one spot.
VOI — Yalıkavak
Coffee, healthy snacks, and one of the most beautiful views in town.
Aloha Bakery — Yalıkavak
Coffee and light bites right in the heart of Yalıkavak Marina.
Macakizi Hotel — Türkbükü
Beach, Michelin-star food, and crystal water. A splurge — but worth it, when you want it.
The Casa Cala — Gölköy
A beautiful day at the beach or dinner, whichever pace the day calls for.
Limon Gümüşlük — Gümüşlük
Lunch and dinner, right where the light does its best work.
Gümüşlük Village — Gümüşlük
Small shops, slower pace. Shopping that feels like wandering, not browsing.
Yalıkavak Marina — Yalıkavak
High-end or low-key, it’s all here. Best of both worlds, no matter your budget.
Yel değirmeni- Bodrum
Historical site with beautiful views overlooking Yalikavak.
Rent a boat out of Bodrum, Yalıkavak, or Gümüşlük marina — and let the coastline set the pace for a day.

Bodrum finishes itself in whoever’s paying attention.

Save this for your next trip. A collab guide by Yasemin E. Tüzün x WAASTAA واسطة ♥️
