I’ve been thinking

If your Jesus were here now…
He would have invited the immigrants in.
He would have taken from the rich and given to the poor.
He would have admonished the self-righteous.
He would have told us to stop trying to be superior to each other.
He would have stood with the people we have decided are less deserving.
He would have challenged the powerful, comforted the uncomfortable, and made the comfortable uncomfortable.
He would have told us that feeding the hungry matters more than judging the hungry.
He would have reminded us that loving your neighbor doesn’t come with a border, a passport, a political party or a price tag.
And the Christians of today would probably have called him a socialist.
Some would call him a communist.
Others would accuse him of being too liberal.
And some of the people shouting the loudest about Jesus would probably want nothing to do with him.
Because he wouldn’t be right.
And he wouldn’t be left.
He would be in the way.
And ultimately…
they would kill him again.
