The Kiribati Sports Fishing Club is grateful to the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources for sponsoring this month's FishComp!
The Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MFOR) is the Government of Kiribati's national authority responsible for fisheries management, ocean resources, and increasingly broader ocean governance.
It plays a central role in ensuring that our ocean resources (Ara Marawa) are sustainably developed and managed for the benefit of all I-Kiribati, today and in the future.
Fun fact: In case you missed this, in 2024 the Ministry officially transitioned from the Ministry of Fisheries and Marine Resources Development (MFMRD) ➡️ the Ministry of Fisheries and Ocean Resources (MFOR). This change, among other things, reflects a greater emphasis on sustainability and integrated ocean management and alignment with emerging priorities like marine spatial planning, blue economy, and ocean governance.
