Wazapora – A Heritage Area Seeking Immediate Attention

Assalamualaikum,

Wazapora is one of the historic localities of old Srinagar and is well known for its skilled craftsmen and the rich tradition of Kashmiri Wazwan, which is an important part of our cultural heritage. Unfortunately, due to the negligence of the concerned authorities, our area is gradually becoming unhygienic. Roads and lanes are littered with garbage, drains remain blocked, and the stray dog menace has become a serious concern for residents.

As a resident of Wazapora, I have been trying to promote our heritage and culture through JJ Foods, where tourists and visitors from different parts of India and abroad come to experience authentic Kashmiri cuisine. While they admire our food and hospitality, the poor sanitation and neglected surroundings leave a very negative impression.

The drainage near the new road connecting Wazapora to Sokalipora is completely blocked, causing foul smell, stagnant water, and unhealthy conditions. Despite repeated concerns, no concrete action has been taken by the administration or our local representatives.

A heritage area like Wazapora deserves clean surroundings, proper drainage, effective waste management, and regular civic maintenance. We sincerely appeal to the Srinagar Municipal Corporation, district administration, and our elected representatives to take immediate action and restore the dignity of this historic locality.

Clean Wazapora is not only important for its residents but also for preserving Kashmir's heritage and presenting a positive image to visitors from across the world.

Let's work together to make Wazapora clean, beautiful, and worthy of its rich legacy.
