West Cork Academy is delighted to announce the squad travelling to Liverpool for a special fixture against Liverpool FC.

This is a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against one of the world’s leading football academies. We are incredibly proud of everyone selected and wish the squad and coaching team the very best for the game.

West Cork to Liverpool. This Friday, our young 2014 and 2015 players will have the opportunity to take to the pitch against Liverpool FC at the Liverpool Academy in Liverpool. It is a hugely exciting opportunity for the group and another important experience in their development. Behind this opportunity are countless training sessions, long journeys, committed families, dedicated coaches, and communities across West Cork who continue to support these young players. This week is about more than one match; it is about challenging ourselves, learning, developing, and representing where we come from. Over the coming days, we’ll bring you closer to the players, preparations, and journey. Follow the journey, share the campaign, and leave a message of support for the players below.

A reminder: Bunratty United AFC’s Boot Exchange.

If your child has football boots or shin pads they have outgrown, and they are still in good condition, please consider donating them.

If your child needs a pair, you can swap what you have, or if you have nothing to exchange, we ask for a small donation towards additional club equipment.

It’s a simple way to help each other, save money and make sure good equipment gets reused rather than going to waste.

Please give all boots and shin pads a clean before donating.

If you have something to donate, or if you are looking for a particular size, please contact a committee member or manager.

It was a real privilege to welcome Mary Robinson to Skeaghanore yesterday as she visited to learn more about, and show her support for, indigenous Irish food producers.

Mary’s contribution to Ireland and far beyond is remarkable — from becoming Ireland’s first female President, to her work with the United Nations and her continued leadership on human rights, climate justice and the future of our planet.

This photo is particularly special to us, with three generations of our family together — my parents, ourselves and our children — on the farm and in the business that our family has built over many years.

For our young girls especially, it was wonderful to meet someone who has shown throughout her life that an Irish woman from the west of Ireland can go on to make a difference on the world stage. A pretty special role model to have standing in the yard!

Thank you, Mary, for taking the time to visit, for your interest in what we do, and for continuing to champion Irish communities and producers.
