HOW TO SUPPORT OUR APPLICATION

Go to the Fingal County Council website and access their online planning system.

Create/register an account and search for our planning reference:

F26A/0618E

From there, you can make an observation/submission in relation to our application.

We also want to be completely transparent: there is a €20 fee charged by the Council to make a formal submission.

We know €20 is a lot to ask someone to spend simply to support a small local business. We completely understand that not everybody will be able or willing to do that, and there is absolutely no pressure.

But if you believe Social Bean deserves to remain here and you are in a position to make a submission, your voice could genuinely make a difference to us.

And if you can’t make a formal submission, you can still help.

WE NEED YOUR HELP — PLEASE HELP SIGNING OUR PUBLIC SUPPORT PETITION FOR OUR PLANNING APPLICATION. PLEASE SHARE THIS POST.

Like so many small independent businesses, sometimes it feels like we are constantly fighting just to exist.

Social Bean is currently going through a planning retention application for our little coffee shop at Fingallians GAA Club, and we’re asking our community to stand behind us.

Since opening, we’ve tried to be more than just somewhere that sells coffee. We’ve supported club events and matches, local groups, fundraisers and community initiatives. We’ve created local jobs, supported local suppliers and tried to create a little social space for everyone who comes through Fingallians.

We’re a tiny independent business. There’s no big company behind Social Bean , it’s simply us, our team and the incredible people who choose to support us.

Now we need your help.

We are asking everyone who supports Social Bean to please sign our petition to help keep us at Fingallians. The petition will be available at Social Bean and around the club.

And even if you can’t come down to sign straight away, PLEASE SHARE THIS POST.

Share it with your friends. Share it with your family. Share it with your teammates, neighbours and anyone who knows Social Bean or believes small independent businesses deserve the opportunity to remain part of their communities.

The more people we can reach, the stronger our voice becomes.

At a time when cafés and customers are trying to reduce single-use packaging and be more conscious about waste, creating three or four pieces of rubbish for one coffee feels like a step in the wrong direction.

We might be old fashioned, but we still think the most sustainable iced latte is one that’s made by the barista, served in one cup, and ready to drink.

Less packaging.
Less waste.
More coffee. ☕️

To support the charity fundraiser for Dillon Quirke Foundation in Fingallians GAA tomorrow, we will be opening the shop tomorrow when the charity event starts around 7pm.

Everyone who donated to the charity will get 20% off coffee purchase tomorrow all day. Just show us the email from the website will do ❤️🫶. Let’s get down to the club around 7pm to show some love and support!

Happy Pride Month 🏳️‍🌈

For anyone who didn’t know, here’s your annual reminder that Social Bean is owned and operated by two husbands.

Somehow, despite being married, running a business together, spending nearly every waking hour together, and discussing coffee, toasties, and supplier orders far more than any couple should… we’re still speaking to each other.

Most customers don’t really think twice about it, which is exactly how it should be. You come for the coffee, stay for the chat, and hopefully leave with your caffeine needs sorted.

But Pride Month is a good time to celebrate being able to be yourself. While we’ve come a long way, not everyone has the same experience, and that’s why visibility still matters.

We’re proud of what we’ve built together, proud of the community around us, and proud that Social Bean is a place where everyone is welcome. So no matter who you are, there’s always place for you at Social Bean.

Happy Pride Month from the two husbands who somehow thought opening a coffee shop together was a good idea. ☕🏳️‍🌈
