Lakay Kafe was so happy to welcome home the Jeunes for the holidays! Almost 3 years was way too long! While they were here in Jeremie, we hosted our kids to school program Christmas party, celebrated Christmas on the beach with our team, had a wonderful staff dinner, had some staff training, and did some work on our solar electric system.
It was much needed time spent as a family that we pray for again soon! Thank you to everyone who supports us and our team!

Each year we try to raise money to give every kid in our school program a present for Christmas and every family in the program and at our church a food kit (including rice, oil, spaghetti, and seasoning)
It’s that time of year again and we want this Christmas season to be the best one yet. Haiti has been taking the hits and we would love to spread a little bit of joy and cheer to the people we love so very much in our community of Jeremie, Haiti!

I don’t have many words to talk about how it feels to be so far away from so many people that you love in the midst of uncertainty and true danger. Maybe because hurricane Melissa isn’t the first to bring destruction to the Caribbean but instead a force just adding to the current struggle that exists.

I love that our team thought about those outside of town who might be struggling during this time. We have 3 students in our program who live in Jebo and go to school there. There is a temporary shelter at their school for while the storm passed and as flooding remains. Lakay Kafe was able to bless those staying at this shelter with a meal. For $5 you can sponsor a meal as well! We will be doing another round of meals very soon as we know this is most likely the only food they will get while they are staying there.

Please pray for the Lord to intervene! This storm is moving slowly and getting bigger every minute! We ask for mercy on our neighbors (Jamaica) where it is expected to do the most damage and for our island that is already experiencing flooding and high winds and damage!

Some of our students in the school program wanted to say thank you for sponsoring their school year again this year!

We still have 5 kids we need sponsors for. Would you consider sponsoring a year of school? You’re changing lives with around $250 you pay for the whole year of school for a student including a backpack, books, and uniforms.
School is not taken for granted in countries like Haiti and education can change the world! Thank you for being a part of the change!

Coming this school year, Lakay Kafe has a new opportunity for our community!
We are excited to announce that we have a laptop and internet available for students and teachers to come do homework and/ or research. As well as a printer for projects and papers.

At Lakay Kafe we believe education can change Haiti! 🇭🇹 Most of the students that are a part of our school program do not have access to the internet and we can’t wait to see how this can push their learning to the next level!

Please know the computer is available for 30 minutes at a time and open for the community of education.

Thank you to all our supporters, this is only the start! We can’t wait to be able to offer more than 1 computer for this purpose! God is good all the time, and all the time God is good!

Life changing!!!!

Excited to share an update from Lakay Kafe’s school program!

This is Marie Djalie Nicolas! She graduated high school this year thanks to her sponsor getting her through the last two years of school! She aspires to be a lawyer and give back to her community!
She reminds us of the purpose of the Kids to School program, to educate the next generation so that they can make a change in our country! It starts with kids. It starts with education!
