Have you checked the weather forecast? โ˜€๏ธ

The summer barbecue weather is set to return this weekend, and if you're looking for something a little more interesting than the usual supermarket lager, we've got just the thing.

Say hello to Birra Flea - a small-batch craft brewery from Umbria, the green heart of central Italy. Named after the ancient town of Gualdo Tadino, Birra Flea has built a reputation for producing characterful beers using carefully selected ingredients and traditional brewing methods.

And yes, the bottles are as stylish as the beer inside them!

๐Ÿบ Adelaide (Turquoise Label) โ€“ APA

An American Pale Ale that's fresh, crisp and highly drinkable. Expect citrus notes, gentle bitterness and plenty of refreshing character. Perfect for warm afternoons, grilled chicken, burgers and lighter barbecue dishes.

๐Ÿบ Federico II Extra (Copper Label) โ€“ IPA

A fuller-bodied India Pale Ale with more pronounced hop character. Richer, bolder and packed with flavour, this is a great choice for anyone who enjoys a beer with a little more depth and complexity. Fantastic alongside smoky barbecue meats and spicy foods.

๐Ÿบ Jolanda (Orange Label) โ€“ Black IPA

Perhaps the most intriguing of the three. A Black IPA combines the hoppy character of an IPA with darker roasted malts, creating notes of coffee, cocoa and toasted bread without becoming heavy like a stout. It's a style many beer lovers haven't tried before and well worth discovering..

What makes these different from your standard beer? Smaller production runs, more attention to ingredients, more distinctive flavour, and a real sense of place. These are beers made to be savoured and enjoyed, with each style bringing something unique to the table.

Whether you're firing up the barbecue, enjoying a sunny afternoon in the garden, or looking for a gift for the beer lover in your life, these Italian craft beers are a great way to try something different.

Pop into Rizzo Deli and pick up a few bottles before the weekend. We think once you've tried one, you'll want to work your way through all three. ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Not every great Italian ingredient has to be rare or unusual. Sometimes it's the everyday staples that make the biggest difference.

These Attianese tomatoes are a perfect example. Family-owned since 1954, Attianese is known for selecting high-quality Italian tomatoes and preserving them at their peak, giving you a product that tastes far removed from the average supermarket tin.

Here at Rizzo Deli, we stock three varieties:

๐Ÿ… Polpa di Pomodoro - chopped tomatoes with a rich, fresh flavour and a little more texture. Perfect for slow-cooked sauces, soups, stews and pizza sauce.

๐Ÿ… Pomodoro Pelato Classico - classic peeled plum tomatoes, a cornerstone of Italian cooking. These are ideal for making simple tomato sauces where the quality of the tomato is the star of the show.

๐Ÿ’› Pomodoro Pelato Giallo - yellow peeled plum tomatoes, and something you don't often come across. Yellow tomatoes are naturally lower in acidity than their red counterparts, giving them a sweeter, gentler flavour. They create beautifully balanced sauces with a delicate sweetness and a stunning golden colour. They're particularly good with seafood, fresh basil, mozzarella, burrata and lighter pasta dishes.

One of the things we love about Italian cooking is that many of the most famous dishes contain surprisingly few ingredients. When a recipe is that simple, every ingredient matters. A great tomato, good olive oil, fresh basil and quality pasta can produce something truly special.

That's why Italians place such importance on ingredients. The difference between an ordinary tin of tomatoes and an exceptional one might seem small on the shelf, but it can make all the difference once it reaches the pan.

These may be pantry staples, but they're pantry staples done properly.

Of course, it doesn't hurt that they look fantastic sitting on a kitchen shelf or in the pantry too ๐Ÿ˜‰. The colourful vintage-style labels are unmistakably Italian and almost make you want to leave the cupboard door open. ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

A little jar with a big reputation.

If you're a fan of truffle, this is one of those products that can transform a simple meal into something that feels restaurant-worthy.

This is B***o con Tartufo Estivo from Stefania Calugi, a renowned truffle specialist based in Tuscany, Italy. The name translates simply to 'butter with summer truffle' and that's exactly what it is - rich, creamy butter blended with pieces of prized Italian summer truffle.

Truffles are one of Italy's most celebrated ingredients, particularly in regions such as Tuscany, Umbria and Piedmont. Often referred to as the 'diamonds of the kitchen', they are highly valued for their unique aroma and earthy, savoury flavour.

The summer truffle used in this butter has a delicate, nutty character with subtle woodland notes. It's less intense than winter truffle, making it wonderfully versatile and easy to enjoy.

One of the reasons products like this are so popular in Italy is their simplicity. You don't need complicated recipes - just a small spoonful can elevate everyday ingredients.

Try it:
โ€ข Melted over freshly cooked pasta
โ€ข Stirred through risotto
โ€ข Spread onto warm crusty bread
โ€ข Melted over steak or chicken
โ€ข Tossed with roasted potatoes
โ€ข Added to scrambled eggs or omelettes
โ€ข Folded into mashed potatoes

The butter gently carries the truffle flavour, creating a luxurious taste that's rich, savoury, earthy and deeply satisfying without overpowering a dish.

It's also one of those authentic Italian products that many people here may never have come across before. While truffle oils have become more common, genuine Italian truffle butter from a specialist producer is still something of a delicacy.

A small jar goes a surprisingly long way, making it an easy way to bring a little taste of Tuscany into your own kitchen.

Have you ever tried truffle butter before? ๐Ÿ„๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

Take a look at these Grantortelli ai Funghi Porcini from Brema ๐Ÿ‘€
At first glance they look like ravioli, but they're actually a larger style of stuffed pasta. The name Grantortelli literally means 'large tortelli', with a more generous filling designed to be the star of the dish.

That generous porcini mushroom filling is exactly why we were so impressed when we tried them at home today!

If you're a mushroom lover, you'll know that many mushroom-based products today are paired with truffle. While truffle has its fans, it can sometimes overpower the flavour of the mushrooms themselves. What we enjoyed about these is that the rich, earthy character of the porcini mushrooms is allowed to shine through.

We tried them a couple of ways at home, both with olive oil and with pesto. Both worked beautifully, but if we're honest, we'd recommend keeping things simple. The olive oil version was our favourite , it was all that was needed. Maybe add a few shavings of Parmigiano Reggiano and you've got a simple, authentic dish that doesn't need much else ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿผ

Ready in just a few minutes, they're perfect for those evenings when you want something quick after work but still want to enjoy a meal that feels special.

This is exactly the kind of product we look for at Rizzo Deli - quality ingredients, traditional Italian character, and flavours that speak for themselves.

A little favour to ask from our wonderful customers โค๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

We are absolutely overwhelmed by the support we've received since opening Rizzo Italian Deli. The lovely comments, kind words and Google reviews you've taken the time to leave have meant so much to us and have helped more people discover our little corner of Italy in Worcester.

We have noticed that while our Google reviews are growing beautifully, we currently only have 2 reviews here on our page.

As a small independent business, recommendations from our customers really do make all the difference. They help build trust, spread the word locally and support us in ways that advertising simply can't.

So, if you've visited the deli, enjoyed our products, attended an event, or received good service from our team, we would be incredibly grateful if you could spare a minute to leave us a Facebook recommendation.

Every review helps, and we genuinely read and appreciate every single one.

Thank you for supporting independent local business and for being part of our journey ๐Ÿ’š

Grazie mille,

The Rizzo Italian Deli Team ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ๐ŸŒฟ New Flavours of Calabria Have Arrived! ๐ŸŒฟ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ

We've recently added some authentic Southern Italian favourites to the deli, including something many of you may never have seen here in England...

๐ŸŒฟ Oregano on the Stem ๐ŸŒฟ
In Italy, particularly in the south, oregano is often harvested and dried on the stem rather than being stripped from it. It's traditionally preferred because it helps preserve the herb's character, aroma and flavour for longer. When you're ready to use it, simply rub the stems between your hands and the fragrant leaves will fall away.
Perfect sprinkled over pizza, stirred into pasta sauces, added to salads, or used to season roasted vegetables and grilled meats.

๐ŸŒถ๏ธ Diavoletti Rossi ๐ŸŒถ
These little dried Calabrian chillies may be small, but they deliver plenty of flavour and warmth. Calabria is famous throughout Italy for its love of chilli peppers, and these are a staple ingredient in many traditional recipes.
Crush them into tomato sauces, add them to garlic and olive oil when cooking, sprinkle them over pizza, or use them to create your own chilli-infused olive oil at home.

๐Ÿ Condi Spaghettata ๐Ÿ
A classic Italian seasoning blend packed with herbs, garlic and chilli, designed to make a delicious pasta dish in minutes. Simply warm a spoonful gently in extra virgin olive oil, toss through freshly cooked spaghetti and finish with a little Parmesan or Pecorino.
It's also fantastic sprinkled over roasted potatoes, mixed into breadcrumbs, or used to add extra flavour to vegetables and pasta salads.

Simple ingredients, traditional methods and the authentic flavours of Southern Italy - exactly the sort of products you'll find in Italian kitchens every day.

Pop into the deli and discover a little taste of Calabria for yourself ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น

A little taste of Italian luxury...

Some products earn their place on the shelf because they're popular. Others earn it because they're genuinely exceptional.

These chocolate and Piedmont hazelnut cantuccini fall firmly into the second category.

Made with prized Piedmont hazelnuts and rich extra dark chocolate, they're beautifully balanced - deeply chocolatey, satisfyingly crunchy and, importantly, not overly sweet. Every ingredient has been chosen for flavour rather than simply adding sweetness, which is what makes them feel so special.

At ยฃ8.90 a box, they're not an everyday biscuit, and nor are they meant to be. They're the sort of treat you buy when you want something a little more indulgent, a little more refined, and a little closer to what you'd find in a quality Italian pasticceria.

They've become a firm family favourite here, and for good reason. Once you've tried them, you'll understand exactly why.
