As part of Shooters Hill’s many celebrations for Black History Month, our Catering and Hospitality department was once again delighted to put on a feast to mark the occasion! 🌍🍽️

Students and staff were treated to a fantastic selection of dishes celebrating the wonderful flavours of Africa and the Caribbean, including our legendary Jamaican jerk chicken, dumplings, Ghanaian jollof rice, gravy, Senegalese Yassa, Ethiopian Misir Wot and even our very own creation – Supermalt Cake! 🎂

A huge team effort from our talented students and operational team, who worked incredibly hard to bring it all together.

Queues for miles, but we're sure it was worth the wait! 😋👏

🍂🍽️ What a week in Hospitality & Catering! 🍽️🍂

City View may be undergoing its exciting transformation, but our students certainly aren't slowing down! 👨‍🍳🌟

🛍️🍰 We kicked off the week at Fortnum & Mason, where our Level 3 students completed their research comparing luxury food hall experiences, following their earlier visit to Harrods. ✨

🎉👏 Midweek, we hosted our first Spectacular Open Event of the year, with a fantastic turnout of student volunteers proudly representing Hospitality & Catering and welcoming our visitors!

🌱🥕 Today, we rounded off the week with a wonderful visit to Roots for Life, part of our exciting Shooters Hill collaboration! Students explored the breezy autumn allotments, discovered different varieties of vegetables and even tried out the fitness trail! 🍁💪

🧁🍰 And the perfect finish? A delicious sweet treat prepared by our very own work experience students! 👏

Another brilliant week of experiences, opportunities and learning beyond the classroom! 🌟🥳

🌍🌱 Something totally different for our Catering & Hospitality students as we continue to make the most of City View being closed for our exciting upgrade! 🛠️✨

This week, we travelled right across London to the wonderful Natural History Museum to explore sustainability and carry out a research assignment looking at how the hospitality and catering industry impacts our environment – and what the industry can do to become more sustainable. 🌱♻️🍽️

A fantastic opportunity to take learning outside the classroom, explore some of the environmental challenges facing our industry and get our students thinking about the part they can play in creating a more sustainable future. 🌍💚👨‍🍳

And, of course, there was also the opportunity to see the legendary dinosaurs! 🦖🦕 Because really… never not amazing! 😍

🌟🍽️ Another exciting week for our Hospitality and Catering students! 🍽️🌟
As City View's transformation continues, we're making the most of our temporary closure by getting our students out and about, exploring the hospitality industry and enjoying some fantastic experiences! 👨‍🍳✨

This week, our Level 3 students headed to the legendary Harrods Food Halls to begin an exciting research assignment comparing luxury food hall experiences. Watch this space! 🛍️🍰

✨ They also enjoyed a lovely light lunch, made possible by the generosity of our wonderful City View customers and our 'Tips for Trips' fund. A huge thank you to everyone whose tips help us provide these valuable experiences! ❤️👏
Meanwhile, our second group of Level 2 students visited South Bank Food Market, where they were treated to a glorious selection of food from different cultures around the world! 🌍🥘🍜🥙 A fantastic opportunity to discover new flavours, explore international cuisines and enjoy everything London's vibrant food scene has to offer.

We’ve hit the ground running! 👨‍🍳👩‍🍳

With induction finished and lessons now well underway, what a week it’s been for our Hospitality & Catering students!

Our Level 1 students hit the ground running, producing the hotly anticipated meals for Bamboo and Aspire that everyone loves and looks forward to! 🍽️

Meanwhile, with City View undergoing its exciting transformation, Level 2 proved that you absolutely can learn front-of-house skills in a kitchen! Adaptability is an essential hospitality skill, after all! 🙌

And finally, what better way to finish the week than with a glorious day out at Southbank Food Market, where our students explored cuisines from around the world, experienced different cultures and, most importantly, tried some delicious new delicacies with your generous 'tips for trips' fund! 🌎🥢🌮

🍽️✨ Well, we’re back! But it’s not quite business as usual… as many of you will know, City View is beginning its transformation! 🛠️✨🏗️

While our restaurant is closed, we’re making the most of the opportunity to get our students out into industry — and what a way to start the new academic year! 🌟👏

Our first exciting opportunity saw our Level 3 Catering students collaborating with Bidfood at their annual 'Taste of Bidfood' event at Woolwich Works this week 👨‍🍳🍽️✨

Our students worked alongside industry professionals, helping to support the live demonstrations and exhibition stalls, gaining invaluable experience of a large-scale hospitality event and seeing the industry in action 🤝👨‍🍳🌟

What an amazing experience for our students and a fantastic way to kick-start their Level 3 year! 🚀🎉

A huge thank you to Bidfood for welcoming our students and giving them the opportunity to get involved. 👏✨

We have some exciting news: we're getting a makeover starting in September! Unfortunately, this means we won't be opening as usual while the work is underway, but we can't wait to welcome you back once everything is complete.
We'll have a clearer idea of the completion date after the work begins. As soon as we know more, we'll share an update and begin taking bookings.

🌟👨‍🍳 Our Taster Programme students have finished the week on an amazing high! 👨‍🍳🌟

☀️🥵, Our students showed incredible resilience, enthusiasm and commitment in the soaring temperatures by taking part in every aspect of the programme. They embraced kitchen practical cookery 🍳🔪, mocktail mixology 🍹, restaurant service 🍽️, and the all-important food hygiene and allergen awareness training 🧼🥗—essential knowledge for a successful career in hospitality.

We rounded off the week with a wonderful Parents and Carers Celebration Buffet this evening, where students proudly showcased many of the dishes they had created throughout the week for their families. 🎉🥪🧁. It was fantastic to see their confidence, skills and passion develop in such a short space of time.

We can't wait to welcome these students back in September and see where their journey takes them. Here's to our future chefs 👨‍🍳, mixologists 🍸, restaurant managers 🍽️, hotel managers 🏨 and so much more! 🌟🚀
