It’s become a bit of a birthday tradition for our youngest, a homemade mr whippy in a “proper cone”! We are a day late, as yesterday was the big day, but this afternoon he and big bro had homemade honey ice cream, made with village honey, and topped with sprinkles… of pollen!

Ice cream, but make it less full of rubbish!

It’s Sunday! And you know what that means? It’s our popular Sunday menu on offer. 3 COURSES £50pp🍞Homestead Stottie | Ho...

It’s Sunday! And you know what that means? It’s our popular Sunday menu on offer.

3 COURSES £50pp
🍞Homestead Stottie | Homemade clarified butter
🍴Starter | choice of meat / fish / vege
🍽️Main | choice of meat / fish / vege
🥣To finish | choice of pudding or cheese

We are very nearly fully booked for today, with just a handful of tables left if you use the Bar/Upstairs booking link. We look forward to welcoming you!

Ps I love when I tag the suppliers on a photo, and it’s just the person who makes the plate and the butcher down the road we get the beef from. Everything else on this dish we grew here 🌱

In a nod to it being Yorkshire Day, I thought I’d share some of the best bits about living and running our little moorland restaurant in Goathland! There are parts of life that we just take for granted, but forget that it’s not everyone’s normal 😂

What have I missed?! Are you a city dweller or a countryside lover?

Last year’s moorland fires became such a part of our life and conversations, that Wilfred made this amazing stop motion film to warn people about the risks of fires.

We saw our family (2 x firefighters!) and friends working round the clock on the moors, trying to get the blaze under control. This year is yet another dry one, and the risk of fire is HIGH.

If you’re visiting the area, please just stick to the warnings:

🔥 no campfires or bbqs
🚬 dispose of ci******es safely and not on the ground
🍾 do not leave glass bottles anywhere
🚮 leave no trace

There are lots of ways to enjoy the area without putting anyone at risk. So why not pack yourself a delicious picnic and leave the matches at home!!

Leave your messages for Wilfred and I’ll share them with him… he’s already planning this years stop motion safety video!! 📹

MONDAY 27th
Our landline is back up and running.

Thanks to everyone who has beared with us, and our lovely neighbours who were taking our calls due to the BT issue.

Here’s hoping this week is less eventful!!

Today’s highlight was after my instagram stories last week, an incredibly kind regular of ours delivered me a replacement office chair 🧡 so good to be reminded of all the good among all the stress!!

OUR PHONE LINES ARE DOWN

Temp number: 07983 433997

Thursday 23rd July, our phone line went down, mid call! BT won’t send an engineer until Monday.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?
if you called and left a message, we won’t have been able to access this since yesterday afternoon. If you call us now, you may either get our voicemail, or perhaps a neighbour (I kid you not, I just tested the line and someone in the village answered!! My mobile said I was connected to the landline here, but somehow it rang another property?!)

This is a shambles on the behalf of BT, but they cannot offer call diverts for us.

We will try to get hold of a PAYG sim and set that up this afternoon.

In the meantime, please visit our website for any queries - you can book tables, buy gift vouchers, see our menus etc.

I’ll be checking socials and emails regularly so will try to respond asap.

Thanks for your understanding!

We embarked on this dream 5 years ago. Looking back to this time in 2021, we had sold everything, moved in temporarily into my parents, and I (Cecily) was heavily pregnant with our second child, mid heatwave, wondering if the sale of the property would go through … and wondering how on earth we were going to figure this all out!

We had a dream, to open our restaurant, to build a home for the boys, to renovate and open the holiday cottage, and of course… to start growing our own food.

In February 2022, we built the first raised beds in the back garden, which is what you see from the restaurant. We didn’t initially have anyone working in the garden, it was Pete and I, and a toddler and a newborn 😮‍💨

Fast forward, and we now have not just the space here, but a 5 acre field down the road… and in that time, we’ve been slowly but surely growing… in more ways than one. Sunday was such a moment, to say that everything sat next to that beef and Yorkshire pud was grown here 🌱🧡

We will continue to do our best to grow, to support local businesses, and support this wonderful community that we are so fortunate to live and work in.
