Hello! I am Alison the Mum of the BBK duo.
I have always been interested in how food can heal and 5 years ago, when I had a health scare that made me re-evaluate my whole life, I researched every food/lifestyle change that would help me to recover. Once my treatment ended, I was curious to know more so took a year-long Nutrition & Lifestyle coaching course. What did I learn? Well, quite a lot but I realised I was only scratching the surface. I suppose the most useful thing I learnt was health is so complex, and so individual. There is no one diet that suits all. I used the same approach years earlier when I had fertility issues and conceived naturally, two months after making the changes.
I have always loved food, whether it be cooking for family and friends or discovering a health benefit from a particular food. Then, in 2019, my eldest daughter (not Lizzie, she is the middle child 😁) asked me to help her to cater for a yoga TT retreat in France at the wonderful Maison De La Vaure. We had the most amazing time with a beautiful bunch of yogis. The days were long, but it never felt like work. This made me realise how much I love cooking for people, so we were super excited when we had more bookings for 2020!! Of course, these didn’t happen.😕
So why bone broth? It was one of the foods I added to my diet 5 years ago and I love it because it is so versatile and nourishing but also it helps me to eat less (muscle) meat. I hope you get a chance to try it for yourself. 🍜🍲🍵
