🍂❤️ Some days are just special... ❤️🍂
Some days make you stop, reflect and truly appreciate what a special place Staithes is.
It takes a lot of planning, a lot of hard work, and yes... a lot of tidying up afterwards, to make our little cafés and events at St Peter's happen. But days like yesterday remind us that every bit of effort is absolutely worth it. 🥰
We were delighted to welcome some new stalls to our Harvest Café. Mel from Furever Friends Pet Care brought along her homemade dog treats, while Emma from Hummersea bakehouse tempted us all with her beautiful homemade organic sourdough and ciabatta. The village may have been quiet, but St Peter's Centre had a gentle hum of happiness about it all day. ☕🍰🐾🍞
While Chloe, Angie and I kept everyone fed and watered with our homemade autumn treats, our Harvest Show judges were hard at work upstairs. They spent the morning scrutinising, tasting and living the dream of being 'Nigella' for the day as they judged the wonderful cakes, cookies and scones, preserves and liqueurs. Then, without missing a beat, they swapped hats and turned their attention to the craft classes. The standard was incredible, and we were blown away by the talent on display. 🎂🧶🏆
Before we knew it, it was time for a very quick turnaround to prepare for our Harvest Festival Service.
And what a service it was.
A congregation of 17 joined us in our tiny church overlooking the sea. Apart from our Carol Service, that's a record attendance for us! ⛪🌊
Revd David Gould led a wholesome, uplifting and fun service. Filip took his usual place at the organ, filling the church with familiar hymns, and together we achieved my wish...
🎶 We raised the roof! 🎶
Afterwards, everyone enjoyed the wonderful cakes from the Harvest Show, chatted with friends old and new, reflected on the day and headed home knowing they had been part of something truly special.
These are the days that remind us what community is all about. Days filled with kindness, friendship, laughter, shared memories and a church at the heart of village life.
Thank you to everyone who baked, crafted, judged, volunteered, supported, donated, attended and helped make the day so memorable.
❤️ Staithes, you really are something special. ❤️

🌟 A Huge Thank You from St Peter's Centre! 🌟

What an incredible few weeks it's been!

A massive thank you to everyone who has donated their surplus fruit, vegetables, foraged goodies and glass jars to St Peter's Centre. Thanks to your generosity, every single donation has been transformed into something wonderful for our Pop Up Café at the Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage. 🍏🍅🥒🫐🍓

From chutneys to cakes, bakes and preserves, our volunteers have been busy turning your gluts into delicious treats for visitors to enjoy. And if we're lucky, there may even be enough left for our Harvest Festival display and service too! 🌾🍂

After days of chopping, stirring, baking and bottling, I'm pleased to report that my oven has finally cooled down and I've almost managed to lose the smell of vinegar and chutney! 😂

But not for long...

I'm back in Staithes this weekend and ready to get my apron on again, so please keep those donations coming! If you have any spare fruit, vegetables, berries, herbs or clean jars and lids that need a good home, we'd love to hear from you.

💚 Special thanks to: ✨ Alum House Luxury Bed & Breakfast ✨ Angie Jayne Coburn for the rhubarb, apples and courgettes ✨ My Mum for the courgettes, tomatoes and brambles

Your generosity helps us bring people together, reduce waste and create something truly special for our community.

Thank you for helping St Peter's Centre turn surplus produce into smiles, conversations and delicious treats! ❤️

🥕🍓 Got a glut? Don't let it go to waste... send it our way! 🍅🫙

🥫 SAVE YOUR JARS! 🥫

Wow, Staithes... you're doing it again! 💚

Our appeal for surplus fruit, veg and foraged produce is proving hugely successful (keep them coming!), and we're absolutely delighted by the support we've received from our amazing community... but freezer space will be running short, so we are planning stage 2..... Chutney Ahoy!

🍎🍓🍐🌿 We're looking for clean jars and matching lids of all sizes!

Our volunteers will be busy turning your generous donations into delicious homemade cakes, crumbles, pies, chutneys and preserves for our St Peter's Centre Pop Up Cafés.

If we have enough, we'll also be selling our homemade preserves at the Staithes Festival of Arts & Heritage 2026 and at our Harvest Show & Service, helping to raise funds for St Peter's Centre and support our community activities throughout the year.

Instead of putting those jars in the recycling bin, why not give them a second life?

♻️ Don't recycle it... donate it!

📍 Drop jars and lids at Staithes Arts & Crafts Centre

📞 Or contact Lucy on 07973 281211

And please keep the fruit, veg and foraged produce coming too! Every apple, berry, plum, marrow, courgette, onion, tomato, garlic and handful of hedgerow treasures helps us create something special.

Thank you for helping us turn local gluts into delicious treats, reducing waste, supporting local volunteers and raising funds for St Peter's Centre. We couldn't do it without you! ❤️

👉 "Please share this post with friends, neighbours and local groups. The more jars we collect, the more preserves we can make!"
