Whorlton bridge is now open🎉🎉
Many of our customers will be very pleased to hear this news 😅

Celebrations were had today to mark the reopening of the historic Whorlton Bridge.

The Grade II* listed bridge, which spans the River Tees and links the village to surrounding communities, has been the subject of a complex programme of specialist engineering, conservation and construction works.

To mark the reopening, we held a special ceremony attended by representatives from Historic England and specialist contractor VolkerLaser, alongside residents of Whorlton and Wycliffe villages.

During the event, musicians Rosie Bradford and Sam Slatcher performed a bespoke folk song celebrating the bridge and its history. The performance was followed by music from Barnard Castle Band, which also played when the bridge first opened in 1831.

Autumn is now here so soup is back on the menu! Carrot and butternut squash in today 🍜
Fresh quiches will still be making an appearance for now but most likely every other day as we go into winter. Full quiches can be ordered as they freeze well for those not wanting to miss out 🥧
Just trying to mix up the menu a bit so corned beef pie will be in later in the week too! 😋

After a super busy weekend we are now reloaded and ready to go again! Thank you to everyone who joined us ❤️
